The Burden of the Old

I just can't wait to see what happens when the baby boomers hit their 70's.

  1. CC, I don't get it, what I see is if you take the GDP and divide by 300 million (per capita) my health care will be 20% of my share when I am 90? Hell, to live to 90 I will pay 50% of my share. To think individual health care costs will go down as you get older you are nuts. If you integrate the individual GDP percentage times the population of each age group you will get total health spending as a percentage of GDP. There are liars, damn liars, and economists. The baby boomers hitting 70's will be the greatest intergenerational transfer of wealth (old to young) in the history of this country. That would be a good chart. I saw your article on the neolibertarian and was not impressed.

  2. I'm glad you were not impressed with my post on Neo Libertarian. If you were impressed, then I'd have to worry, because you are a sloppy rookie.

Please re-read the title of the charts CAREFULLLY and then open your mouth.

  3. You got me. I think that some people if they live that long have survived most common ailments and therefore do not consume that much in terms health care as they are literally the healthiest people (as they live the longest).

Either way, I'll be surprised if i make it to 60.
