I was very let down by the movie Windtalkers.
I like to call it "Nicolas Cage Fires His Magical Thompson Machine Gun" because instead of the movie being about the ACTUAL NAVAJO CODE TALKERS IN WWII it's 90% Nicolas Cage randomly spraying hillsides with his Thompson machine gun and "magically" every single bullet manages to kill, not wound, EVERY Japanese soldier.
Regardless, like the Tuskegee Airman, I wonder how many code talkers are left.
Yes, I thought "Windtalkers" was a terrible film. Cage has made some real stinkers in his career, and that's one of them. They missed a golden opportunity to showcase just how important the codetalkers were to the war effort.
ReplyDeleteTerrible movie. Cage is such a good actor but he needs to fire his agent.
ReplyDeleteThat movie is just one more piece of politically correct BS from Hollywood. Let's just showcase all the minorities so we can make them all feel better about themselves. I'm still waiting for the war movie about Lithuanian Americans.
ReplyDeleteThere's an independent film called "Only the Brave" about the 442nd Regimental Combat Team. The unit was composed of Japanese-Americans whose families were interned and they still volunteered to fight in the war. There is also an older movie called "Go for Broke" with Van Johnson.
The 442nd is the most highly decorated unit of its size in US military history. They had 21 Medals of Honor, 52 Distinguished Service Crosses, 588 Silver Stars (28 were second awards), 22 Legions of Merit, 15 Soldiers Medals, 4000 Bronze Stars, and almost 9500 Purple Hearts.
