Another Image You'll Never See on Google

And another reason to use Bing.

Bing sucks. Hijacks your browser when you try to access your own computer with it.

In Internet Explorer, you can use "Run As" to access the admin profile from another user's profile. Saves a ton of time if you need admin rights for something without switching profiles.

If you have Bing, this doesn't work. When you type in "My Computer" or "Control Panel" or "Printers and Faxes" or whatever else into the address bar, instead of loading the correct location it hijacks the browser off to a search page.

So yeah, Bing sucks. A cheap appeal to patriotism doesn't make up for breaking a useful function of the OS, but I guess that's all it takes for some people.

  3. Google will continue to dominate the search engine market until someone comes up with an engine that puts out results that are as good or better, but every time that I've used Bing, I haven't gotten anything resembling what I was searching for, whereas it was right there near the top for Google.

At the end of the day, market forces will prevail, and superior products will win out as consumers will flock to whatever gives them the most value to their time and money.

  4. They did a bang up job with their Canadian version of their page too. As a former Professional Infantryman, I salute Microsoft.

  5. Oddly enough, Google did have a custom logo for Veteran's Day this year.

I don't use Google - they can burn and rot in hell.

Yahoo works good enough for me.

And a shout out to all the Vets out there - thank you for your service.

I don't get it. Why is there even competition between different search engines? The market for search engines looks like a natural monopoly to me.

Here is a neat collection of photos of Normandy past and present: http://blogs.denverpost.com/captured/2009/06/05/the-65th-anniversary-of-d-day-on-the-normandy-beaches/#comment-1676 My Dad was in the Corps of Engineers and went through Normandy.
Thanks also to all vets. We can never repay them.
