I'm living in the city where it's happening and the neighborhood that's being targeted. Most recent news is one of the street gangs has vowed to hunt down and deal with the shooter.
Thinking about gun control recently has required me to think about where exactly my "line in the sand" is located. What are your thoughts on confiscations here in the US and what we can do about it's possible eventuality?
Well, it's a question that parallels the issue of suicide and one you really have to think about.
Using suicide as an example, if you think about it, most people who commit suicide are foolish. Becuase if you look at them, the majority of time it's triggered by financial loss. Nobody ever asks the question, "well, OK, so I lost all this money. But BEFORE I kill myself, I might as well try to rob some banks, steal some Ferrari's and go out with a bang"
It shows me people never take a genuine, long hard thought of inventory of their life and just "how bad life should get before you end it."
The use of guns is another similar issue.
Do I really want to go and start killing people?
No.
How bad would it have to get here in the US to the point I'd be forced to take up arms?
To the point where I realize that the government/people/society is so far gone there is no hope left for free thought, independence, etc. The KEY measure though is when democracy is threatened. In the case of the US, IT'S NOT.
For all the idiocy and dumbasses and ditzy females that voted for Barack Obama and have swallowed this socialism bullshit whole, in the end, you cannot complain about it. Obama, Pelosi, Reid, and the entire leftist agenda was legitimately elected. They DID win. They ARE the will of the people.
I think the people are batshit insane, but that is what the people wanted and I am nobody to argue.
What it ultimately boils down to is that unless a tyrant or a group of tyrants take over the US and ignore the wishes of the people, then neither you nor I have an legitimate cause to "Take up arms and rise up against the tyrants" because there is none. The only tyrant is the people being so astoundly ignorant to elect themselves into socialism.
And revisiting the suicide refrain, is life so bad you can't just move to another country? Much as I would perosnally like to "shoot the liberal bastards" they have a right to be ignorant. I dn't have the right to take their life. No matter how much more "right" I am than them, their right to be "ignorant" or believe what they want trumphs my "being right." On top of it taking their life would result in me in jail.
Moving to another country, living my own life, and letting the world collapse on its own is always another option, just like robbing a bank and making off with it successfully is always another option to suicide. You give up, you let go of morals, but the other option is death. And frankly, when you get to my stage, you realize life, no matter how horrible and how unfair to you, unless you are starving, it is nothing but an interesting movie to watch where you can predict it and tell the director how to prevent the calamity from happening, but alas, you are yelling at a very ignorant screen. And well, why not just enjoy some popcorn and some tucked away whiskey you snuck into the theater in your flask?
a swedish guy told me a story. a friend of his was robbed of his wallet by a guy. he chased him, caught him, punned him down, took his wallet back and called the cops. the robber turned up to be a gypsy, who got a 100 euro fine. the robbed guy got a 2 months jail sentence converted to house arrest for excess reaction and racism. you cant really complain then when people start sniping at the scumbags rather tban call the cops. the swedes are very civilized people, but also have a very strong sense of justice. and law and justice has stopped being the same thing long time ago.
