These are pictures from East Germany before and after reunification.
I originally thought it was bombed out buildings after WWII UNTIL I saw one picture with graffiti. Then it dawned on me, it was a simple, but stark comparison of the effects of socialism vs. capitalism.
Of course even this simple visual aid will fail to convert the Leftianity zealots.
Idiot Liberal: "Well, the difference is obviously due the fact that the East Germans had to devote so many resources for defense. If only the USA hadn't been so aggressive in the cold war, East Berlin would have been much more vibrant!"
ReplyDeleteFunny thing is that many people are very nostalgic about communism and want it back.
ReplyDeleteBecause in such system parasits thrive.
I remember as a kid in the 80's some relatives from the Czech 'old' country came to the US to visit us cousins. I was told by older relatives that they almost cried when they first saw a grocery store with the amount of goods available.
ReplyDeleteI also like that nighttime satellite photo of North and South Korea. Pitch black in the north, bright lights in the south.
ReplyDeleteHey sth, I also saw some Czech visitors check out a grocery store. My Aunt had some Czech In-laws visiting, back in the 1980s. They took tourist pictures inside the grocery store. Then back at my Aunts place, they displayed their food purchases, and took more photos. They were like kids visiting Disneyland.Come to think about it, imagine what a North Korean would feel like inside a Walmart Super Center.
People here in North America, take the bounty of the free market for granted.
"People here in North America, take the bounty of the free market for granted."
ReplyDeleteSpeaking as a 20-year Navy veteran who has been to the Mideast multiple times (as well as to Rumania and Bulgaria), that statement IS ALL TOO TRUE!
