The Bloggosphere is Now Officially the 4th Branch of Government

Originally it was supposed to be that the media was the fourth branch in government, conducting good, quality journalism to ensure the public sector institutions (as well as private sector institutions) were serving the people and avoiding becoming corrupt.

The media has obviously failed in this regard.

However, there is one segment of the "new" media that has stepped up to the plate.  The likes of you and me in our little blogging world.

I therefore decree (with just as much authority, if not more, than the traditional MSM) that we are now the 4th branch of government and the media is nothing more than a political arm of the democrat party.

Continue as you were.

The blogosphere is the current guarantor of freedom of speech. It also enables democratic (with a same d) opportunity to enable all to become the power of the press.

Just like the printing press gave new power to the person, so have the internet and blogs given people power to take down the oppressive MSM press, but also to take down oppression with government.

I don't want the blogosphere to be considered to be part of government - I consider it the ultimate check against government abuse.

  3. Remember that the government has a big "Off" switch on the internet through key communication centers and secondarily through the various corporations that provide the huge number of computers needed for the rest of us to talk. If they throw that switch, we become a rabble, unable to communicate or coordinate.
United we stand, divided we fall.

It used to be the role of the press to "speak truth to power." However, the press has clearly abdicated that duty, so it has fallen to the blogosphere to fulfill that role. If the mainstream press is unwilling to actually do the job that it has been entrusted with, why do they have such a problem with the "blogosphere" that does? Yes, it is a rhetorical question as the answer is quite obvious to anyone that is not already in the socialist bag.
