Danny is one of those guys who did what "I would have done had I to do it all over again."
Knock out 20 years in the military and take a pension at 39.
But I did some very quick math. Since the socialists and government has driven him to go Galt, what would he have contributed to society had he not been deterred?
Well, he would presumably work another 30 years until he was 70. Pro-rate it at $50,000 per year and a 40% tax rate, that's $600,000 that will NOT be going to welfare bums, whiners, complainers and other general parasites on society.
Now imagine if you will the 75 million male workers in America just saying, "to hell with it, I'm done. It's minimalism for me."
If they did that it would cost the government/parasitic classes $45 trillion.
You want to talk about how to win this war, there's your ticket.
Dude, you really need to offer Enjoy the Decline for the Nook. I see it on Amazon for the Kindle, but that's to me starting minimalism, I only have a Nook, and don't plan on buying a Kindle. (The Nook was a gift.)
ReplyDeleteI want to read more about minimalism.
Minimalism...it's Jesus approved.
ReplyDeleteNow you can see the economic and mental benefits. It's a lot easier to go minimalistic by your own choosing (and trusting in God to take care of you)...than being forced to because you got used to trusting the government cheese and then they took it away.
can't you side load amazon's store app to your nook and get it that way?
ReplyDeleteGive it a few years, and every man who speaks or even thinks of going galt will be branded a 'separatist' or a 'rebel' by the establishment.
ReplyDeleteIn such a future, guys like you, Captain, or Roosh, will be regarded as enemies of the state and top of the list to get visited by Seal Team 6.
Taxation is the lifeblood of the state. Starving them of it in any way possible is a step in the right direction. Use craigslist and flea markets to get used stuff very cheap.
ReplyDeletethanks for the linkage Hermano; appreciate it.
ReplyDeletei don't see myself going Galt as much as i do "going my own way.
real men are survivors, we overcome/adapt/assimilate. we don't sit on the side line and piss and moan about how unfair life is.
you can never lose of you don't play the game.
my camp is yours to retreat to id you ever need/want to take a breather.
While I appreciate the sentiment, your final calculation assumes linear accounting. I seriously doubt 75M young men in a country of just over 300M can be accommodated in the military.
ReplyDeleteHowever, the $75T may be bled other ways. If we resort to black markets and mooching off welfare, I am sure that the present regime will find itself bled in very short order. Then again, if one can get 75M men to do something in concert, I can think of other ways we might amend our situation.
We are playing with fire and I am 90% certain we are going to get burned.
ReplyDeleteThe socialism will fail; that's a given. Even if nobody goes Galt and everyone keeps slogging away... you can NEVER give socialists enough money.
The error the Galts are making is this: you are assuming a better system will arise to replace the one we have now. That is not necessarily true. I could see us going like the Russians - getting raped by the commies in gov't, and taking it up the arse from the capitalists on the black market...we are setting the stage for some very interesting times...
you don't fight zombies, you starve them. STARVE THEM!
ReplyDeletebut but but...
ReplyDeleteif you did that, then many millions of women would starve to death.
Women would never starve to death. They would get sugar daddies or marry or whore themselves out in droves.
ReplyDeleteIt's pretty hard to starve a beast that can "print" it's own food supply. Not impossible, but really hard.
ReplyDeleteI embrace minimalisim because fuck having all that stuff. Happiest times of my life tend to come when I don't have shit to my name. Plus, like Earl points out, it's God approved. If I start making an idol out of stuff, you'd better bet he's going to take it away from me.
Relampago2013, look at this:

I chose self employment in a small but lucrative service business where cash changes hands. Worked out just fine. But I had to halt the Galt to retired and start collecting much of whatever it was I paid in yo remain legit and build up social security.
ReplyDeleteIf I live long enough I will have gotten it all back with interest. Meanwhile I am enjoying all those savings.
I also avoided post secondary education and passed those savings along to my customers.
Cappy is right ... unless you are well connected and have a strong stomach, it's just not worth it any more. I live semi minimalist and it's great.
