Some pics from the final touristy spot, "Lake Annecy." It's south of Geneva by about an hour or so. Here I actually got to "captain" a "ship," but also found a new passion - hang gliding. If you zoom in on the mountain pic you'll see some hangliders. This will be my next sport starting next year.
Ahem.....paragliders......
ReplyDeleteNot to be a dick but that is Para-sailing not hang gliding...
ReplyDeleteBoth however look very fun
I'm an Idiot... I meant Paragliding...
ReplyDeleteTry paragliding instead of hang gliding.
ReplyDeleteThe equipment is lighter, and you can hike it up a mountain yourself. Hike up, fly off.

Best of luck.
My family used to live in Sylmar, CA. There is a small mountain/large-ish hill within a 1/2 mile of the old family manse that is (or was then; haven't been there in decades now) extremely popular with the hang gliding set. From the available evidence, the thrill factor is reliably high, but the opportunity costs are regularly terminal as well.
ReplyDeleteAll opportunity is risk, but ...
"Aviation in itself is not inherently dangerous. But to an even greater degree than the sea, it is terribly unforgiving of any carelessness, incapacity or neglect."
ReplyDeleteThat castle is awesome. Thanks for the pictures.
