That greatly depends on what you mean by "Art". If by examples of "Art", you mean a picture of a crucifix submerged in a jar of urine and named "Piss Christ", or a picture of a man with a bullwhip sticking up his rectum, then Leftists are very capable of "Art". However, such self-described "artists" should not be supported by any government agency that uses taxpayer money.
Aaron, this is one of the few times I vehemently disagree with you. Even though what you say applies to SOME self-proclaimed artists, there are plenty of amazing illustrators, graphic designers animators (2D or 3D) and fine artists (as in experts in pre-19th century painting/sculplture) who are also leftists and Social Justice Warriors. Some of these leftists are now working for Disney, Dreamworks, Sony, EA and Cartoon Network.

I was really looking forward to reading that argument. But if the linked article ever made the case, I missed it.
ReplyDeleteMarxists make bad art, because they believe the labor theory of value.
ReplyDeleteI dunno, I'm having a hard time coming up with any politically conservative artists.
ReplyDeleteOff the top of my head, Pablo Picasso and Salvador Dali were both Communists, and Andy Warhol was a liberal icon.
Even Norman Rockwell voted for a Socialist presidential candidate in 1948, though he later voted for Eisenhower as well.
Musicians, outside the country music scene, tend to be strongly liberal.
Artists, good or shitty, tend to be liberal.
