Forgive me Cappy, I did stop at a Citgo about 6 months ago to gas up, because my usual place, which is 1 block away was out of gas that afternoon and I was running on vapors. Prior to that I hadn't stop at a Citgo in over decade plus. I haven't shopped at Target for about a year, since they don't like conceal carry permit holders. I will never shop at TGT if I can help it.

I understand the point you are making here. There is a Citgo refinery in my area. I don't like commies, but the refinery jobs pay well and contribute to the tax base. Not too many gas stations though.

Many years ago O Reilly wanted people to boycott a yogurt company that happened to employ quiet a few Americans. This global integration thing is a real bitch sometimes.

Starbucks is a different matter. I make it a point not to spend money there.

  3. Cappy, your (spot-on) rant really just demonstrates the futility of holding out ANY hope whatsoever that the Amerikan suburbanite/SWPL Right is anything but a bunch of shallow, ignorant, brainstemming poseurs. The Amerikan MC and UMC have proven themselves to be pussified, solipsistic LOSERS, regardless of their (supposed) "ideology."

No, they're not going to boycott CITGO (or any othr company) on ideological grounds because 1) the question of who owns an oil company is irrelevant if said company's prices at the pump are the most competitive (for all SWPLs care, an oil company could be owned by NAMBLA and their profits spent lobbying Washington to pass pro-paedophilia laws endangering said SWPLs' own children), and 2) the average self-absorbed SWPL dipshit couldn't even pronounce or point to Venezuela on a map, nor tell you in even pre-school English why Venezuela is in the state it's in and what that potentially portends for the U.S. in political and economic terms (my Venezuelan fiancé was rather taken aback by that on her last couple of stays here, having expected rather more and better of the American MC).

TL;DR version: Evangelizing active battle for liberty, economic or otherwise, to suburbanite SWPLs is a major waste of time and effort.

    Enjoy that loooooooong decline...

Actually - I do avoid CITGO - I have known about there ownership forever (apparently the newer VALERO stations are also affiliated with Venezuela - I avoid them as well)
And I have an Android phone - don't much like the iphone
And I have never had an Apple computer
And I buy coffee from McDonald's - Starbucks is absurdly over priced
But then again, being a lifelong conservative in deed as well as in name, I did not need anyone telling me to do these things - it just made sense

I forgot to add that Dannon yogurt was owned or is a French company and O Reilly was wetting his panties about boycotts though the company employs quiet a few Americans.

As for refineries and such, remember that you don't really know who you are buying gasoline from. I have a handful of Exxon and Shell stations in the area but there is no Exxon or Shell refinery but plenty of others. They probably sell a similar product then put their trademarked additives and stamp it with a brand. Capitalism, at least what's left of it. I would guess I may be buying gasoline refined at the Citgo refinery.

  6. Actually, a good number of people have been dodging Citgo stations, including me. About 6 years ago they even had an ad campaign reminding people that these franchises were managed and staffed by good ole Americans. And a number of these places have changed name to GoLow, $ave, the aforementioned Valero as a result to camouflage where the fuel comes from, and look to see if there are that many Citgo logoed trucks anymore the way there are BP or Exxon.

And yes, refineries sell a good chunk of production to rival pumps. It's amazing the amount of incest between so-called free market rivals. If the fact that all pumps have their prices hiked within 20 seconds of each other across the board over a large terrain doesn't tell you that, too.

I'll not shop here or there and get the lecture that my little purchase won't affect their support of loathsome causes, and have to remind these "practical" people that it doesn't matter if it does or not. I avoid these places for my own integrity.
