Seattle's Wealth Tax

Though to be expected (because it violates state law), a judge unfortunately ruled against Seattle's attempt to implement a wealth tax.

Liberals in Seattle deserve not only to pay the tax, but they also deserve the low economic growth that would result.  They deserve the capital flight out of the city that would ensue, along with businesses already leaving town in anticipation of their $15 minimum wage.

In short, Seattle, like all large, liberal towns deserve what inevitably and ultimately happens to them. They deserve to become Detroit.

I agree that these liberal idiots deserve all those consequences. Unfortunately, the rest of us are also affected when they come live in our towns and bring their bullshit with them!!

They're not welcome in my neighborhood...ever!

  5. Unfortunately I live near this town. The going theory is that they are doing all of this, knowing it would fail, to then challenge it at the state's supreme court. The reason?? Because the voters have voted down a state income tax again, again, and again. They want to challenge the state constitutionality in hopes of getting their income tax, then making a statewide one.

To curb carbon and unicorns, ya know.

  6. I love how the city of Seattle is going to legally fight to keep this illegal tax on the books. The courts was trying to do Seattle a favor. I guess Seattle doesn't want to let them.

Seattle like a lot of liberal cities and states honestly believe that businesses and the wealthy are just going to stick around these places and take it up the ass in taxes. They believe that those with the money to move and live anywhere they want isn't going to take their money and talents and move elsewhere.

It is pretty sad that Detroit sits as a reminder as to how NOT to run a city, yet it seems as though many American cities are in a rush to emulate their mistakes that led them to bankruptcy.

  7. What strikes me is that sometimes sensible people can't avoid dealing with liberal cesspools--I'm thinking specifically of a city at the south end of Lake Michigan as a great example. Avoiding skunk/onion city means higher airfares, driving two hours to the south or north (and taking the ferry if you don't want to go through the UP), and the like. Same basic thing with the cesspools on the east coast--it's just hard to avoid them.
