Apparently only in the north and western hemisphere.

Pretty easy to explain. You live in India and you're educated, you need to pursue whatever will make you money. Egalitarian countries tend to be more developed, so people don't need to pursue the "best" paying jobs as much; and can choose more lifestyle fitting ones.

  2. "even in cases where girls have better performance in science, their performance in reading is typically even larger"

The article treats this data point rather dismissively, but it's actually pretty significant. If you have *both* good STEM skills and good verbal skills, your optimum career path is going to be different from that of someone who has the same good STEM skills but relatively lame verbal skills.

When the MSM gets hold of this story, you know that they'll either ignore it, or they'll 'twist and spin' it so that it's all the fault of "Teh Patriarchy", or 'men'.
How do I know? Because I've seen them do it before.

  4. Maybe it's also because in countries with "gender equality" women are repeatedly told that they will be discriminated against if they go into STEM, that no matter how good they are, the evil patriarchy will keep them down and they won't be able to reach their potential. They make all this fuss about how hard it is for women to make it in STEM and then wonder why so few go for it...

"They attempt to use a statistical pathway analysis to see if the data is consistent with this being the case, but the results are inconclusive."

    The study proved nothing.
