I don't want to sound like I am ripping off of Dave Ramsey and his schtick, but he allowed himself to be over $1 million dollars in student loan debt. If he graduated from orthodontist school with a little over $600k in student loan debt and he makes $225k as an orthodontist, then he could have easily lived like a college student for 3-4 years and paid off his student loans before having children or buying a house. His financial predicament is all his fault.
At least he didn't major in BS. Orthodontist is a worthy field to get into. Still, he could have done some 4th grade math and work on paying down his student loan debt before moving on to kids and a house. He could be debt free right now, making his $225k/year and stacking that cash. Sadly he and his wife are bound and determined to let the student loans accrue interest and take that loan to the grave.
Is it dumb? If he can accrue a million plus dollars in debt and gain a very valuable degree and credential and not have to pay it back then the only fool here is the taxpayer subsidizing him. Would you not avail yourself of free money to gain market valuable knowledge? The Dems have already been talking about the student debt crisis. It's just a matter of time before the 1.4 trillion in student debt is forgiven and higher ed is subsidized directly and not through guaranteed loans. Now, I'm not saying all this is moral. It isn't.
An "education" in Ko$$ack Jingoism Studies or other $JWhiner/Establishment bull$hit is indoctrination...even worse when fools pay to be mentally poisoned - considerably WORSE When they go into oblivious freaking debt to pay for it!
I am the Great Tomnac, and, I can see the future. A significant portion of these assholes will default, and the US taxpayer will wind up paying. Doubt me? What happened during the recession of 2008? The banks were bailed out by doubling the deficit and ten years of cheap money from the Fed to the banks. The next bailout will cause the HYPERINFLATIONARY GREAT DEPRESSION. Prep hard Bitchez.
University of Southern California, aka University of Spoiled Children, a rather expensive private college here in LA known for its football program and filmmaker alumni. Those two facts won't help him in repaying his debt, but the expensive part is relevant.
Saw this on a forum post. If he has that much debt, it's due to his real lifestyle https://mymedic.us/pages/dr-mike-meru He is not living frugally by any means.
All other issues aside, we (taxpayers) better not be subsidizing any sort of future bailout/forgiveness for these federal loans.
