Why Do Women Need Permission to Be Equal?

Permit the Captain a short, but important observation.

I have been told since the age of 5 that women were equal and could do anything men could do.  We should treat women equally.  We should treat them as we would a man.  And, matter of fact, forget it, there is no difference between men and women.  They are interchangeable.

But why after 40 years of hearing this constant clamor and bickering are women still asking for permission to be equal?

By "asking for permission" let me show you what I'm talking about.

The "Mentor Her" hashtag for example.

If women were truly equal they wouldn't require men to "mentor them" in being equal.  They ARE equal, therefore, shouldn't they just "should go and be equal?"  Also, the age of the women clamoring for this hashtag are of the Sheryl Sandberg type, who have the exact same 40 odd years on this planet as I have.  And the ENTIRE TIME it has been nothing but a 4 decade long celebration about the equality, if not, awesomeness of women.

To quote Judge Smalls from Caddy Shack when it comes to them being equal, "Wellllll?  WE'RE WAITING!!!"

Another example, women in STEM.

Shouldn't women be smart enough after these 40 years of "you can do anything" to know they should go and major in STEM?  THEY ARE EQUAL which means they're as smart and logical as men.  Don't tell me they "don't feel welcomed" or "they're socially expected to avoid math" or any of that other BS.  In 40 years women should have realized that majoring in "Women's Studies" is stupid as hell and majoring in "Electrical Engineering" is a much better option.  Why, after 4 decades of constant cheering and support, do I have to hear the same tiresome, weak, shitty excuses as to why women don't major in STEM?

You are equal.  You are interchangeable with men.  Men would AND DO choose to major in better subjects no matter what da feelz, so why aren't women?

Again, I ask in my Judge Smalls voice, "Welllll???  WE'RE WAITING!!!"

And finally, running to the government and corporate America for assistance and help.

No, you girls don't get to complain about sexism anymore. This country and the world has bent over backwards for you, giving you affirmative action, preferential treatment, and anything but a god damn ticker tape parade when it comes to promoting you in the working world.  You even have California making a blatantly sexist policy forcing companies to put women on the board of directors regardless of merit or worth.  If you actually WERE equal, you wouldn't even need these incredible handicaps to close the various performance gaps with men.  If you were equal, you'd simply close the gap.  What's sad is even with these handicaps you still aren't able to close the various gaps in terms of wealth, income, performance, etc. of men.  Which again, makes me ask that if women are equal, what is the freaking hold up?  Why are you asking permission from society and men to be equal?  The road could not be any more freshly paved.

The truth is women have the capacity to be equal.  They simply choose not to.  Most women instead choose the easier path.  A path that involves majoring in easy-borderline-worthless subjects, pursuing easy-borderline-worthless professions.  Working as elementary school teachers 9 months a year, social workers part time, accountants, but not CPA's, and activists instead of actuaries.  But instead of accepting their lower economic lot in life, they prefer instead to bitch and whine about the wage gap. They demand superior pay and superior preferential treatment for inferior work.  Matter of fact, if women redirected the energies they do towards complaining about the "wage gap" and invested it instead into a programming bootcamp, the wage gap would disappear overnight, heck, they'd probably triple the average man's income.

But they know exactly what they're doing.  They want higher pay for easier work.  It's nothing but simple human nature and laziness that guides them because if you can get the same pay as an engineer with the half-ass effort it takes to become a teacher, why not?  All I ask is that you girls drop the BS pretext with me and the rest of the world and stop acting like you're oppressed.  Stop acting like men are discriminating against you.  If you could for a moment, actually be equal to men, and stop your whining and complaining.

So you want to be equal?  I want you to be equal too.  NOW GO AND BE EQUAL. Nothing and nobody is stopping you.  But for god's sake, stop insulting us by "asking for permission" to be so.

So are you going to post this on LinkedIn as well? You should!

I'm to sick of women not stepping up to the plate. Why can't I be married to a woman that looks nice and makes some good bank and keeps me at home in the kitchen? And provides me with an F350 Ford Lariat King Ranch Edition with leather seats to pick up the rug rats in? And a nice home in the burbs with a 3 car garage?

I have to compete with women for the same jobs most of the time other than the ones they don't want like ones that require actual work.

I've yet to see the sisterhood of electrical line workers pull up in their pink utility trucks and get the electricity back on after a storm.

It's really time to repeal women's suffrage. Property rights would not be bad either, but what man wants to be stuck with a screeching obese lefty voting cat lady?

But but but invisible, pervasive, undetectable, unprovable and completely effective universal discrimination that somehow doesn't affect easy fields!

  4. This captures the attitude perfectly.

"Campaigners say workers in traditionally female-dominated roles such as catering or home care were paid up to £3 an hour less than those in male-dominated jobs such as refuse workers or grave diggers."

Well what's stopping you? Go be a grave digger instead of a maid.

Could not be bother to read it, only cherry pick.

Forget it Aaron. Women will never admit it and everything they don't like is a "social construct" to be dismissed and ignored. Biology, physiology, objective evidence and results, gravity, etc...

Sometime in the late 80s, I came home on leave after a long overseas assignment (Korea) during my hitch in the army. My sister and mother were advocates of women in the Military at the time (though they never served), so I told them what went on during our frequent field exercises-- "a lot walking with full combat load thru hills and rice paddies, settting up night ambushes, sleeping in a holes, little sleep and alot of discomfort, etc.. Most women will not hack it."

Their reply was, "then the men should help them."

Pointing out that in that environment they are nothig but liabilities and in war they would all be dead fairly quickly did not phase them. Even women in your own family will never admit their limitations nor do they seem to comprehend the consequences of believing the lies they tell themselves and each other.

  7. I'd guess that approximately 25% of my architectural class in the early 1970s were women. I have only seen a few of them since we graduated. Interestingly to me, none that I have met went into an architectural office environment. Every single one went into some sort of government or educational field type job.

  8. Just a little side note... whoever created the meme spelled "because" wrong. That's enough to not take it seriously.

  9. FYI, oh great economic prognosticator, I read this out loud to my wife and daughters the other night (minor edits for language). Now that our youngest is in school, my wife is finishing off a degree in web development. One daughter wants to follow in her mom's footsteps, the second wants to be a physical therapist. It's STEM all the way in this house, and a pox upon feminism!
