There is no man shortage--it is a myth. You only see a surplus of females when you count over the age of 60 or thereabouts.
If you create a fake dating profile on Tinder or POF, you will get a lot more attention compared to a similarly "looks-matched" man. I even made one with a pig-faced woman and "she" got love letters and pining for attention from normal looking men.
