The "Don't Know Where or When" Vacation

Hello Lieutenants, Economists, Agents in the Field, and respectable others!

Your beloved Captain is taking a motorcycle ride vacation out west.  This is the first true vacation I've had since I can remember since there is no itinerary, schedule, or destination.  I'm just going "west."  I for certain will be in the Black Hills area of South Dakota and Denver, but that's about the only concrete plans for this trip.  Don't know where I'm going after that, and I don't know when I'm coming back, and I don't care.

If you happen to be in the "west" let the ole Captain know.  He just may be in your neck of the woods and would like to grab a Rumpie or a beer.  Regardless, posts may be a bit infrequent, though since I'm in no rush I very well could just hole up in a hotel room out in some small town and just write for a week.  You never know.

Cappy

  2. After the Black Hills you might want to take your bike over Trial Ridge Road in Rocky Mountain National Park.

Aaron, this is one of your best and recently important videos:

I was watching Michael Moore's recent documentary "Where to Invade Next" and the amount of vacation time, paid leave, maternity leave etc the people receive made me feel sick and angry. This is absolute theft of an employer's money.

Employers pay you to work. They should not pay you to have babies, have vacations and have fun. Is it any wonder why so many businesses go broke in the end. If all of these benefits were stopped, you could possibly cure laziness. Socialist disaster.

hey captain, if you are rolling thru Colorado on I70 passing thru the Eisenhower tunnel next wed or Thursday, I invite you to drive down to Breckenridge(about 30 minutes from the tunnel) where i'll be getting out of the heat in Houston for a couple of days. You have standing offers for beers at ollies pub or burgers at the empire grill on me and a place to crash either night if need be.
if you cant make it, I still highly recommend finding some place to stay near there and spending a couple of days in Breckenridge, my favorite mountain town.

  11. Now that's the life. Denver is pretty cool. Check out the 16th st mall. Aurora is a shithole. Golden is a pretty neat town. Good riding roads around there in the Mountains. Wish I had my motorcycle when I was out there.

  13. Well, if you pass by Sacramento, give me an email. No shortage of decent pubs and restaurants. Ain't no Michelin stars outside of the French Laundry's sister restaurant The Kitchen though.

If you make it to OR, do not miss Hells Canyon Hwy to Joseph (I-84, west of ID). Be sure to checkout Zumwalt Prairie & Buckhorn Overlook.
