Ah, that harsh economic reality makes a college make an adult decision. And now, they might actually dedicate those resources to HELP the students get degrees in something that will actually get them jobs and improve their lives rather than just make them poorer with nothing to show for it.

How the hell can you grow up with boobs and not get a natural degree in women's studies?
ReplyDeleteSome guys stare at them, and then you know (a) they are assholes, or (b) your shirt is cut too damn low.
You go on dates and the guys are total dooch bags and you learn that (a) some people are born users, and/or (b) your attraction to spiky hair either needs to be squashed or will most likely drive you towards lesbians.
Then you read a history book and realize that (a) the strong oppress the weak if they are given half a chance, (b) men always liked sex and always will, and (c) women are generally weaker because we are smaller and easily impregnated, and therefore one body tied to who knows how many little guys/girls that depend on us for survival. Kind of makes rebellion tough when you've got a bunch of babies running around you have to defend.
Then you meet a nice guy and realize they are wandering around getting thumped on the melon by the opposite sex just like we are.
There! Women's studies in a nutshell.
Hope your day is going better than mine, Captain. (although really I shouldn't complain since it is obviously not so hectic that I can't check your blog out.)
Awww that warms my cold little heart.
ReplyDeleteThanks Cap'n, you've made my Thursday!
The ideal university, IMO, would be one operated according to the dictates of a voting student body, who, as the tedious facts of reality force us to face, would have to have graduated from a high school and elementary school system that would have to be whipped into shape first, in order to get people capable of being independent fiscally responsible adults.
ReplyDeleteFreshmen and sophomore undergrads would get one vote,
Upper class undergrads and graduate students would get two votes, and alumni who physically attend sessions would get one vote. The student body would be responsible for reviewing the performance of faculty and making hiring decisions, for approving campus development, and for department/curriculum changes.
What people are getting quickly fed up with are the administrations who suck up money for fat pay raises and 80% unused lavish office suites, and fancy buildings for departments that accomplish nothing but invent jobs for the political correctness industry.
