I have tried explaining this to my parents- IQs of ~115 and ~120 respectively- and they can't understand it or don't want to hear it. The conversation devolves into anecdata within a minute.
Maybe if the WSJ gave me a soapbox they would understand. Ah well, that's family for ya.
This whole series applies double and in spades to the IT field. It's rife with incompetents.
ReplyDeleteSomething else I always keep in mind is the difference between "dialectic" (reasonable, logical discussion) and "rhetoric" (strictly emotional).
