Some Outstanding Empirical Research and Data

The day is near where a camera will be able to assess within an adequate amount of precision the "Sausagefest Factor"

Still, this data is precisely what ever guy needs to see when debating whether or not to make night clubs part of their strategy when pursuing women.

Academic Credentialism: The Pyramid Scheme Inside a Pipe Dream

A guest post from our Agent Alex.

Let me start off by saying that if you're a reader of Captain Capitalism, you don't need me to tell you that the whole academic gig is a scam. Heck, you might have even realized it before you even stumbled upon his works. It's really not that hard to pick up on. You go to class, and it seems like the professor isn't even there. Chances are good that he's an adjunct, commuting between three different campuses a day and earning less than minimum wage, ruing the day he decided to waste seven years studying Medieval English Poetry. Say he's not one of the growing army of “professors” making burger flipping wages. Still, the lucky bum getting a living wage looks over the classroom and sees fifty to a hundred people who really don't care about what he has to say, and distract him from his need to publish or perish, or conduct far more interesting graduate seminars.

The first college I ever attended was one of those crappy for-profit degree mills they advertise on daytime television in between reruns of “Little House on the Prairie” and Judge Judy. The kind of school that a person who sells his plasma for money or needs a pay day loan goes to, or in my case a naive kid just wanting to get out of the boondocks and into the city. The first day of class, the English professor goes up to the podium, introduces himself and says “I am a playwright. Unfortunately, no one gets paid for being a playwright in Arizona, so I am paid to stand here and teach you how to write papers on books you'd rather not read. If you want to get your degree in computer programming or electronic engineering, you will listen, you will write, and you will get graded on it. Maybe you might use this later in your career, but most likely not. However, it's the hoop you have to jump through. Let's try to make this whole thing less painful for the both of us by just accepting that.” Of course my bad luck started when I found out I liked reading books and writing about it better than crunching C++ and Java, but the tale of how I became an academic ghostwriter, or as I prefer to call it; “a phantom of the Ivory Tower” is a story for another day.

The fact is, most professors don't give a shit. They're going through the motions just as much as the students are. So what does that mean for you? Well, unless you're a tradesman or one of the lucky guys who figured out it was going down the tubes before you had a family and all the financial obligations that it comes with, you're likely stuck in some sort of office job that requires certifications to climb one more rung up the side of the crab bucket. Certifications means taking classes. Taking classes means... you guessed it; jumping through hoops. Here's the thing. Jumping through those hoops takes time.

Say you're a systems administrator who wants the certs to add information system for business operations to your resume. Is it really worth your time to take those classes on business writing seriously, when it has nothing to do with what you're really aiming for? Take it from me. Even if you're good at writing papers, good enough to get paid to do it for others, it's still hellish to look out that window and realize you're trapped inside in front of a screen while the sun is shining outside. Life is finite. Go out, play with your kids, have a nice cigar, and go to the beach. Why waste that weekend agonizing over a paper that doesn't matter to you, doesn't matter to the person grading it, and is ultimately pointless to the world at large?

It's all pretty much a sign of the decline. Professors teaching things they don't care about to students who don't need it (and in the case of the aforementioned degree mill 2/3rds couldn't comprehend it), all so that... well... what, really? We're educated? Well, if you're smart, you do learn something, but it has nothing to do with the pointless lectures and time wasting papers. You learn that academic credentialism is nothing but a pyramid scheme inside a pipe dream. It's a demoralizing soul-crushing grind for everyone involved, in which money and time is extracted in return for meaningless pieces of paper, which, if you're smart enough to choose pieces of paper that serve as a marker of desirable skills, leads to future monetary returns. In better times, education used to be about enrichment of the mind and of the character.

It sure as hell ain't that anymore.

So why not let one of us phantoms do the heavy lifting for you along the way, hmmm?

Why Defaulting on the US National Debt Would Be Moral

To simplify my banking career, my primary job was assessing the likelihood and probability that people we lent money out to would pay us back.  Of course this was a pointless task because management and bankers were paid by commission so they really didn't care about the quality of the borrower, just that the loan got approved and they got their commission.  This, naturally, led to me ramming heads with management (where I would almost always lose), but on a macro-economic scale also led up to the housing bubble and subsequent crash and Great Recession.

However, in my pursuit to find genuine, real silver linings to our current economic state, it didn't dawn on me until very recently that my experiences in banking also provided the 100%

legitimate
sincere
unbiased
logical

rationale to default entirely and completely on the US national debt.

Permit me to explain.

While most of us would put the blame of our financial woes on the idiots who couldn't do 3rd grade math and borrowed way more than they could afford, it has to be pointed out that there were idiots that lent to such morons in the first place.  There will ALWAYS be math impaired entitled lazy cry-babies thinking they deserve a McMansion and a luxury car.  It's whether there are saner heads in the banking industry that would lend to these idiots.  This is called "due diligence" and was primarily my job back in my banking days.  Thus, while we certainly (and rightly) place blame on the idiots who borrowed more than they could afford, we must also place blame on the banks who were so stupid to lend to these idiots in the first place as well.

Here were have no argument from any side of any political aisle.  Everybody was against the bankster bailouts.  Everybody hates the banking industry and those that populate it.  And nearly everybody agrees that the banks should have taken their losses, never gotten bailed out, gone belly up and died never to be seen again.

So, riddle me this, riddle me that, why do we hate the bankers so much, but love our nation's creditors to the point we still concern ourselves with paying them back?

Understand they are one and the same AND they made the exact same mistakes.

Bankers lent money to people who couldn't afford to pay it back.
Lenders to the US government lent money to a government who couldn't afford to pay it back.

Bankers failed to do due diligence on the borrowers it was lending money to.
Lenders to the US government failed to do due diligence on the borrowers it was lending money to.

Bankers created a bubble that inevitably crushed the US economy
Lenders to the US government have DEFINITELY created a bubble that will DEFINITELY crush the US economy.

If that doesn't convince you, let's view lending to the US government much in the same terms as bankers view or analyze lending to regular banking clients.

First, who are these idiots lending to?

Well, the US government or the "American people."  But I think a better personification of this would be our chief representative to the world, Barack Obama.

Obama has never worked a real job in his life.  He has been an academia, a spoiled brat with his grandma paying for everything, who immediately went into politics and because of his youth, looks, and race won the lottery in the democrat primary to be president.

His political platform has been to bribe voters with money that he borrows, while seeding envy and hatred against the only assets in the US that have the capacity to pay us back (entrepreneurs, hard workers, corporations, private sector, etc.)

But again, it is not so much Barack Obama US creditors are lending to, but the people who put such an idiot in office.  He is merely a proxy to the caliber and character of the country as a whole, and that country seemingly has no intention of paying anybody back, let alone concerning itself with government finances.

Second, what is the money being invested in?

Understand that banks don't just "lend out money for shits and giggles."  The proceeds of the loan must be invested in some kind of asset or business that generates an income.  AND NOT JUST AN INCOME, but MORE INCOME THAT WHAT IS BEING CHARGED IN INTEREST.  However, this is entirely a moot point because the proceeds of the loans lent to the US government do not go into ANYTHING even remotely resembling an investment.

1.  70% of government spending is income transfers, which is nothing more than bribes to the parasitic class to vote for democrats.

2.  What money does make it to "education" is wasted on indoctrinating youth into socialism and not providing them the skills and jobs they need to support themselves, let alone work up the excess cash to pay back the national debt.  Worse still children are so removed from labor market realities they'll blow a trillion in federal tax dollars getting masters degrees in egos and hobbies before considered a trade.

3.  Health care spending is, sadly, but factual, mostly spent on people who will never work again and are just going to die soon (so again, mathematically just throwing money in a hole).

4.  Wars, no matter how called for, usually are not profitable for either side.  Even if the US went into the mid east "for oil," they've done a spectacularly bad job of profiting off of it.

In short, I'd rather lend to a cancer-ridden, faux 55 year old "DudeBro" "businessman" whose Beemer is leased, his house mortgaged to the hilt, and who has a trophy wife with a horse hobby farm that wants to start a bar, because at least a BAR is somekind of an investment.

Welfare bums, single moms, dying old people, tanks, and socialist indoctrination camps are NOT investments.

Third, how are we getting paid back?

You're not!  Any basic financial analysis of the government's finances already tells you it is loth to run a surplus.  And, once again looking at the caliber of the people in charge of the government, they have no intention of voting in fiscally conservative and astute people into office.  The American people are no different than the spoiled suburbanite children and trophy wives of the beleaguered and insolvent failing "businessman" who desperately comes to the bank, begging and pleasing to be lent more money so he can keep the facade up for another 6 months.

Since repayment is not an option, banks naturally then look at the repossession of the collateral.

Fourth, what do they have for collateral?

Creditors to the US government have "the full backing and faith of the US government" for its collateral.

Translated into English?

"Nothing."

There is no collateral.

And the reason there is no collateral is because if any creditor dared tried to repossess say a piece of land or some islands or some other form of US assets a la "South Beach Tow" the full might and strength of the US military would come crushing down on it.

In other words, simplifying it a lot, people who lent money to the US government were just as spectacularly stupid and naive and negligent in their lack of due diligence that they fully deserve the US government to default on it and never pay them back.

The Chinese and foreign creditors?  You were just as dumb lending money to an Obama America as you were building all those ghost towns and ghost malls that populate your landscape.

Pension funds, mutual funds and 401k plans?  You were just as dumb lending money to Americans as you were actually believing social security was a great way to retire.

And even you parents who thought "teaching your little children about interest" by having them invest in a Series EE bond, are going to instead teach them a much more advanced economic lesson on government bond defaults.

My simple economic take on this is why not make it easy?  Simply acknowledge the emperor has no clothes, default on it now and be done with this once and for all.  Creditors to the US government will get what their ignorance deserves, and we'll all be free of the national debt...that is until you idiot creditors lend this country of spoiled, entitled brats more money and start the whole cycle over again.

Enjoy the decline.

The World Needs More Assholes

Remember kids, if you're having problems and can't find a solution, you have a choice;

Hire a nice person that will take ten times as long, and thus, ten times the expense to beat around the bush and MAYBE get to the truth

or

Hire and asshole who doesn't give a shit about your feelings and will just tell it like it is for a fraction of the time and cost.

When you want to be lied to, hire an MBA.
When you want the truth, hire an asshole.

There's Always a Catch With Women

Village of women looking for single men.

Just have to "follow their rules."

Funny...the article doesn't mention what those rules are.

How much you want to bet they stay a man-less village forever?

How the Left Murders the Individual

I did a spoof video asking why there isn't a "White Male Appreciation Month." And though I knew it was tongue and cheek, it wasn't until a handful of of people, who were offended by it, made me have to go and think through why I found it funny.  And after a little scratching of the surface and kicking it around in my brain, I finally realized not only why I found it funny, but why it truly is funny:

ANY "Appreciation Month," no matter which class or race or gender it celebrates, is stupid.

Permit me to explain.

In the video I (rightly) point out white males made, "well...everything."  But the punchline is that deep down inside, I am not a single one of those white males.

I didn't invent electricity.
I didn't invent flight.
I didn't invent any medicine or vaccines.
And I didn't invent the auto-mobile.

Matter of fact, like most white males, I haven't invented or done much of jack with my life.

But if we are to follow the logic of any race's "Appreciation Month" that shouldn't matter.  It shouldn't matter if we personally, individually didn't achieve anything.  It shouldn't matter if we sat on our asses all day drinking beer and playing video games.  It shouldn't matter if we're collecting a check, getting bailed out of our mortgage, or having illegitimate children.  All that matters is the color of your skin, your gender, your sexual preference, and BOOM!  You "magically" are entitled to just as much pride and respect as the individuals in your respective group who actually did do something of merit and worth.

So because I'm a white male, I'm some how responsible and deserve respect for the accomplishments of Albert Einstein, Neils Bohr and John Oppenheimer.

And if you're a black male you are somehow responsible and deserve respect for the achievements of Duke Ellington, President Obama, 50 Cent, and the Tuskegee Airmen.

And both of us could be drugged out methheads with 4 illegitimate children and criminal records.

Naturally there are several things wrong with this logic.

First, why is it only the good accomplishments?  Shouldn't it go both ways?  Germans should have a huge complex right about now because not only are they responsible for jets, rockets, the auto-mobile, nuclear power, and space travel, they're also responsible for the Holocaust, two world wars, and the Nazi human experimentation projects.  Thus, just as it would be stupid for a German today to take pride in German achievements 50 years ago, it would be just as stupid to blame him for German atrocities 50 years ago.

Second, what if because of history, geography and things outside of your "group's" control, they didn't achieve much?  I'm still waiting for the day the NAACP and various other black groups cite and celebrate STEM heroes in the black community instead of the litany of never-heard of "civil rights leaders" or "Maya Lou Angelo" subpar-"artists."  Couldn't you cite Thomas Sowell?  How about Dr. Benjamin Carson?  Herman Cain?  In part you don't see these genuine heroes of the black community cited is because of politics.  In part it is the political nature of these "appreciation months" to paint the group as a victim to beget additional taxpayer monies.  But (sadly) another reason is that due to slavery, history, geography, etc., many people in many groups did not have the opportunity, and thus no track record of great achievers to point to as mentors and models.

Ergo, what?  Are some groups condemned to really lame heroes?  Are the real heroes going to be hidden for political reasons?  Are aspiring youth in different groups going to have lower bars and standards?

Only if you make them think their heroes MUST be of the same group they are.

And this gets to the truly disgusting, criminal, even outright evil aspect of these "appreciation months" - It destroys and murders the individual by replacing individual accomplishment and achievement with a trait you were born with.

It's important that all people of all groups understand this because there is a genuine evil out there that wishes to destroy the one thing you have in life - yourself.  And if you don't understand this and realize the threat this poses to your life, you will waste your one precious life on this planet.   Thus, it is vital you pay attention to the next couple paragraphs.

If you're like me or any other human your "self," your "consciousness," what you experience in life is not affected by your gender, your skin color, or your sexual preference.  Like me you wake up and your brain says, "Hey, I'm here."  It sees the world through the same way mine does, through our eyes, and the electrical chemical impulses shooting through your brain cells result in the same physical and mental experience every human has.  This experience is universal across all humans of all types.  It isn't until you take the time to purposely look at your arm do you notice a different in the color of your skin or bother to look down your pants do you notice a difference in sex.

However, those "traits" are things you were born with.  You did nothing to earn a "vagina" just as I did nothing to earn "white skin."  They define your physical self, but not your life, your accomplishments, your adventures, or your experiences that ultimately will go into and make up "you."  Thus these physical traits have no real value and to place value on them is stupid.  This is why I don't wake up every morning and look at my arms and say, "My goodness, look how white I am!  I am so awesome!"  Nor do I wake up, look down my pants and say, "Shucks howdy!  Look at how male I am!!!  I'm totally *ahem* 'blessed'."  Nor do most of you because, well, you're sane.

But the same cannot be said of many other people.  Professional race pimps, feminists, "Appreciation Month" professionals, the "Privilege Clergy," and people otherwise psychotically (or politically) obsessed with traits they were born with and never their accomplishments.  And not to simplify it (though it is that simple), but these people can cumulatively be identified as the left.

Understand precisely how evil and despicable the left is when they demand more emphasis and value be put on traits than they do individual accomplishments.  They tell you that you only have value because of characteristics you were born with.  Something completely out of your control. And that conscious you, the person inside that skull of yours with dreams and hopes and desires, the one thing that is the true you and identifies you, is worthless.

It doesn't matter if you achieve anything great or unique.
It doesn't matter if you want to experience a different life.
It doesn't matter if you want to think differently and make this one shot at consciousness on this planet truly and uniquely yours.
And it doesn't matter if your brain has the capacity and ability for greatness.

No, you are black and condemned to a life of failure and racism.
No, you are female and condemned to a life of pay gaps and sexism.
No, you are gay and condemned to suffer at the hands of "straight-privileged" Christians.

The real issue is whether you're going to believe them or not.  If you identify them for the political scum they are, dividing and pitting difference groups of Americans against one another for political gain, you will not waste this one precious and finite life you have and will achieve your own individual greatness.  But if you fall for it and actually believe you're "oppressed" and "discriminated against, " so much so to the point you actually put more value on your skin color or sex than your accomplishments, then the left has won, they stole your life,  and you as an individual have been murdered.

"Yeah, But the 50's Were Racist!"

When debating economics, nothing angers me more when a human mind purposely chooses to ignore the precise, specific argument at hand and pulls something unrelated to the debate, and presents it as germane.

The perfect example of this - pointing to the 50's as ideal economic times.

If you ever bring up the 1940's and the 1950's as an example of what an economy "should be," you will be guaranteed 100% or your money back, leftists will un-thinkingly knee jerk and parrot two arguments they had spoon fed to them.

1.  Oh yeah, well the top income tax rate was 99.8%

and

2.  Yeah, but the 50's were racist!

I'm not going to go into the argument about the top marginal tax rate (which so few people paid) as it's been debunked.

But I am going to address the "Yeah, but the 50's were racist."

My counter-argument is simple:

So what?

Not that I am for racism.
Not that I had no problems with Jim Crow laws.
Not that I wanted blacks intimidated from voting or lynched.

But because IT IS NOT RELEVANT TO THE TOPIC ABOUT ECONOMIC GROWTH DURING THE 50's!

During the 20 year period which most would consider the halcyon days of America (1940's-1960's) economic growth was nearly twice what it is today.  Unemployment a half.  Underemployment, non existent. And debt decreasing.  Practically all economic measures showed the economy firing on all cylinders and everybody, and I mean EVERYBODY (blacks included) benefited from this great general economic climate.

But to take an irrelevant sociological phenomenon such as racism and use it to besmirch or debunk an economic phenomenon is intellectually dishonest and...well...the epitome of leftist.

The truth is that the economic growth during the 50's was so great, it was able to OVERCOME what negative effects of racism there were.  Blacks and black families we infinitely better off based on a wide array of economic statistics during "those evil, racist, oppressive 50's" than they are today in Unicornitopia Diversityville Obama Land.  Unemployment, crime, real wages, illegitimate birth, divorce, etc.  And while things such as Jim Crow laws and other specific instances of truly oppressive racism existed, it wasn't until economic policies changed from that of capitalism and free markets to "The Great Society"/socialism did blacks' economic AND sociological lot start to severely deteriorate.  Ironically, this meant outright racism wasn't anywhere near as damaging to the black community than "well intended" socialism.

What I want to see, though, is taking the precise same illogic the left uses when deriding the 50's and reverse apply it today.

So there was a lot more racism back in the 50's, and there's less of it today.
But back in the 50's the black community (as well as all communities) had better technology adjusted standards of living, healthier families, and the economy was growing much.
Ergo, racism is good for economic growth!

Whether the leftist is smart enough to see you merely did what they did - dishonestly substitute the sociological scourge of racism into what was an economic debate - would be left to be seen.  Though my money would be on their heads spinning.

We Don't Need No Stinking Fathers

You just have to read the last question.

By all means gentlemen, please be absent in your child's life.  We need a constant supply of strippers, porn stars, and escorts.  And ladies, please, by all means, choose men to procreate with that will be absent in your daughter's life.  We need her to grow up insecure and with daddy issues so that we don't have to work too hard to get some play.

Zoe Quinn for Non-Geeks

As mentioned in a previous post, I did not fully understand the "conflict" that has arisen in the gamer/geek/comicon/video game industry with the likes of Anita Sarkeesian, Adria Richards, and (most recently) Zoe Quinn.  Even though I am an avid gamer and 80's nerd, I still was not able to understand why there is so much hubbub about a bunch of feminists trying to ruin a good time in geek culture.  In my layman eye I didn't see any true threat or scandal except for a bunch of hate-filled feminists wishing to either capitalize or vainly attempt to destroy an otherwise happy and predominantly male-enclave of society so they could boost their egos without the rigor and effort of accomplishing anything of genuine merit or worth.

However, because of the sheer volume and visceral backlash against these women, I knew there must have been more than what my novice eye was seeing.  And thusly I requested our resident expert in all things Geekery, Chris Bechtloff, to connect the dots for us non-geeks so we can understand the threat these sub-humans pose to society.

I personally know Chris and his podcast is one I tune into regularly.  I'm not recommending it because "he's a friend and I'm just trying to help out a friend," but because the dude has a GREAT geek podcast and has the ability to translate the happenings in geek culture to how it affects "normal boring us" culture.  You may find his podcast here and the traffic would be appreciated.

Hello there Lieutenants, this is The Bechtloff and the good Captain has asked me to step in and explain, as simply as possible, who the hell Zoe Quinn is, what this controversy is all about, and most importantly, why you should care.

Zoe Quinn is the feminist social justice warrior who made a little video game called Depression Quest on an independent video game distributing site called Steam. Depression Quest is a text based game about having depression. If that sounds like a terrible idea for a video game, it's only because it is. Ms. Quinn's game was, as you might imagine, mocked by many a gamer. A fact that Quinn was able to use to able to use to garner sympathy and even donations via crowd funding. So to recap, Zoe Quinn's original claim to fame was making a terrible excuse for a video game, and then playing the professional victim.

Now recently Zoe Quinn's ex boyfriend published a very lengthy blog in which he accused her of cheating on him with at least five different guys, which is where she earned her new nickname of "Five Guys Burgers and Lies". Now it seems most if not all of these men were fellow video game developers and video game journalists who worked at sites that were giving her favorable coverage as well as covering up negative stories on her that came out. So obviously serious questions regarding journalistic integrity have been raised. All of this is covered extremely well in videos by the Youtuber Internet Aristocrat. I would suggest checking them out for more on it.

Now I don't want to go into extensive detail, but there are a lot of factors here. The identity of all five of these men, or even if it is indeed only five are unknown as of now. Also a staunch Zoe Quinn defender by the name of Phil Fish is claiming his website has been hacked by Zoe's enemies, although there is considerable evidence that he faked that. I'm struggling with how much to even mention here because I really want to keep this as brief as possible. As I said, there is a lot going on here, and this story continues to unfold even as I type this. But what is clear is that geek and gaming sites like Kotaku are desperately trying to sweep things under the rug on this. In a very Nixon like turn of events the cover up is rapidly becoming far worse than the crime.

Now the real question is why does this matter. Well, this is far more important than the whorishness of Zoe Quinn. This is about how unbelievably corrupt and bias the geek and gaming media has become. Put simply, we have allegations that gaming developers were sleeping with game critics in exchange for positive coverage, and the response from those in charge of these sites has been "Move along, nothing to see here folks.". We have journalists literally in bed with the industry they are charged with covering. It is clear that the gaming and geek media have become completely overrun by corrupt whores who care about nothing but pushing their insane liberal agenda and scratching each others backs in the process, or in this case, scratching each others naughty bits. And if Zoe Quinn and everyone else involved can get away with this, then that means these people can basically get away with anything. Now some of you reading this might think this doesn't matter. Maybe you don't play video games, or read comic books, or indulge in any other aspect of geek culture. But it still matters. Geek culture is the imagination of our culture. It is from geek culture that so much of our technological innovation and our art and entertainment spring. We cannot afford to let these soulless liberal whores snuff that flame of creativity out.

Thanks folks. And now back to your regularly scheduled Cappy Cap blogging.

Why Every Worker is a Veritable Slave for 14 Years

Uncle Bernie did a preliminary review of Bachelor Pad Economics and intends on doing a more lengthy one in the near future.  However, he did cite a quote from the book that in simple math explains why anybody stupid enough to work hard is really a slave to socialist and leftist parasites for 14 years of your life.

The only way to win is to starve the beast and make the grocery store shelves empty.

"Sliming Her Vagina Across the Video Gaming World"

I have put a call out to The Bechtloff to explain to us lay folk what the big deal is with this Zoe Quinn girl.  He agreed to write a piece for later this weekend.  However, what prompted my interested in this was listening to Honey Badger Radio's recent podcast.

However, the most gut busting laugh I've had in a long time came at the 1:11:45 mark.  You do not want to piss off the Honey Badgers.

On a related note, Davis Aurini and a partner of his are raising money to put together a documentary about the "Sarkeesian Effect."  Essentially an expose of these leftists, feminists and varied sorts of social justice warriors that have purposely targeted the video gaming/comicbook/geek industry in an effort to co-opt it for their own political purposes and to bring it down out of desire to pursue The Destruction Principle.  They're looking to raise a decent amount of money and given that the frauds they're trying to expose damn well got near a quarter of a million dollars to make "political games" it might be worth throwing a couple bucks there way.

"What If Your Parents Decided Not to Have Children?"

The Common Thread Between Elliot Rodger and ISIS

A superficial survey of the masses murdering Elliot Rodger and the mass murdering ISIS may only draw one, maybe two common threads.  They're both murderers and they're both crazy.  After coming to this conclusion most people whilst sipping on their $7 cup of lattes in the unaffected suburbs will then continue on their life, more concerned with whether they should pick up a copy of People magazine to catch up on all the pointless Hollywood gossip.

However, as my brain is wont to do, it wanders and thinks during my roadtrips, adventures and hikes, coming up with epiphanies that people stuck in cubicles and rush hour never have the opportunity to.  And my latest great western road trip was no different as I discovered the key thing Elliot Rodger and ISIS have in common (heading south bound on 79 out of Rapid City no less).  And if we take the time to identify it, think it through, we can prevent the likes of Rodger's rampage and ISIS's, even radical muslims thirst for blood.

Understand the most powerful force in the universe is not gravity, it's not electromagnetic radiation, and it's not nuclear power.

It's the human male.

Yes, yes, I know physicists will disagree as to the pure mathematical energy that can be measured, but in terms of what has come under control, managed, and been directed towards accomplishing the most amount of good it is not the non-sentient energies that be in the universe, but rather the human male.

It is without a doubt that nearly everything on the planet has been built by men.  Civilization, math, engineering, capitalism, chemistry, literature, surgery, vaccines, nuclear power, electronic, communications, flight, space travel, you name it, men have built it.  Matter of fact men are so energetic they've managed to master and control all the powers of the universe, bending them to our benefit and will, forever increasing the standards of living and life expectancies for all.  This makes men not only the most interesting creature on the planet, but the nucleus and bedrock of society.

Where this limitless energy comes from is very simple - women.  Men are programmed to want, desire and procreate with women.  Many men also want to see their genetics cast out into the future in the form of children.  Ergo a loving, beautiful, and loyal wife along with loving children are the batteries that power these amazing machines of innovation and progress.

But wives and children also serve a very vital role when it comes to the issue of men and their energy.  One that puts their role in society on par with the importance of men - they channel men's energy.

Channel it to what?

Channel it to productive uses.

Without wives and children, mens energy has no ultimate point or purpose.  And sadly, just because a man does not have a wife or child does not mean that energy goes away.  It's still there, it just now has nowhere to be invested in nor a purpose to be invested wisely.  And it is here where the dangerous side of men lies.

Imagine, if you will, a single man as if he were the plutonium used in the Fat Man atom bomb.  This 6.2 kilograms of plutonium had 21 kilotons of potential energy.  Also know that that energy MUST be expended.  The man is going to burn that energy one way or another over the course of his life.  So what is the best way to expend it?

Well, like nuclear power it can be expended in a very helpful way...

or a VERY destructive way.

The helpful way would be like a nuclear reactor providing nearly limitless energy and power to cities and society.  It can heat homes, power industries, light the night and make life incredibly better for all of us.

Or it can be used to destroy and lay waste to society.  Level cities, kill millions, wage war and end human life on this planet.

And now you see the importance of having women and family in life, as well as the commonality between Elliot Rodger and ISIS.

Without going into a great and detailed psycho-family analysis of the two, both Elliot and ISIS lacked the guidance, familial structure, and incentive to properly and productively channel their energy.  The guidance coming from fathers who were either effectively absent (in Elliot's case) or dead/brainwashed by Islam (in ISIS members' case), never existed.  Thus, the PRIMARY individual in their lives that would have taught them about how to go about getting a wife and children (their dads) were either not there or so impaired by a religious ideology things like "game" "wooing" and "charm" were never conveyed to their sons.  Without these tools the Rodgers and ISIS's of the world were unable to attract women, denying them wives and families, thus denying purpose and agency to their lives.  Worse still, with no children or loved ones in their lives, they had no incentive to be good stewards of the future, and thus no incentive to channel their energies productively.

Naturally, many of you will point out that just because a man does not have a point or purpose in life, does not mean he will use his excess energy for evil.  Why not channel them for good?  Why do you so pessimistically assume men will default towards destruction and evil? And while that is certainly true and there are many examples of philanthropists and altruists abound, the sad truth is that human psychology will typically default towards ego and laziness.  And this is where the Destruction Principle and Crusaderism come into play.

Ever so abbreviating both, understand the human mind wants to belong to something and have SOME KIND of value.  But if either through society, a recession, or a lack of interest from women, etc., no such opportunities to belong to something good and productive exist (a career, a family, etc.), people will go and create it out of whole cloth.  Thus "crusades" that claim to be "helping" society, that are in reality nothing more than havens for worthless, talentless people to give themselves some kind of "faux" meaning or purpose in life:

Going green/Environmentalism
PETA
Born again Christians
African aid/mission trips
Feminism
Anti-fracking/Keystone pipeline
Etc.,

Where these "crusades" become particularly evil is on two accounts.  One, participants in these crusades do NOT care about society as much as they do themselves.  They don't care about the whales, they don't care about "the poor," they are doing it first and foremost for their ego.  And whether or not their crusades and their demands actually hurt society (by increasing poverty, lowering unemployment, confiscating other people's money, etc) does not matter to them, because making society suffer (either through higher taxes or lower future performance) is less important than making their egos feel good.

Two, in pursuing crusades that are not based in reality, but rather ego-masturbation, they are diametrically put against reality.  This means any success society has had in the past 5,000 years by adhering to reality has to be criminalized and villainized, and ultimately destroyed by these people.  Capitalism, freedom, nuclear families, individualism, success, excellence, men, patriarchy, etc. any pillar of success is one that needs to be torn down.  Thus, the majority of "successes" and "accomplishments" these type of people point to on their resume is NOT one of "building something" or "creation," but rather destroying something, stopping something, or preventing something.

Now, this mental disease of The Destruction Principle and Crusaderism is nothing "too" dangerous on its own.  Wimpy effeminate men will join hairy armpitted women on a whole host of whinny and complaining campaigns, voting for socialism, economic justice and whatnot as they join OWS and protest in cardboard boxes.  The worst outcome is they vote for socialism and slowly destroy the underlying economic infrastructure of society.

However you add The Destruction Principle and Crusaderism to men who still have testosterone and combine it with a lack of purpose and agency, and you now have the most dangerous and volatile cocktail for young men.  And with nowhere else to go, and no productive use for their energies, these men will not lash out in a form of amazing production and charity, but rather death, mayhem, destruction and terror all in a self-aggrandizing way.  Thus your Elliot Rodgers, ISIS, Al-Qaeda, James Holmes, Tsarnaev brothers, etc.

The solution is one that modern day western civilization is not willing to accept today.  We need to put men at the center of society, ensuring they are raised right to ensure their energies are used for good and not evil.  This unfortunately means making fathers head of the household and championing the nuclear family as the bedrock of civilization.  It also means women (if they wish to have a family) will have to actually be wives and mothers first and foremost instead of temporary incubators for human children that are to be outsourced to the state for raising so she can get back to her career as a "non-profit marketing director."

Until that time the most powerful force in the universe will continue to go increasingly unchecked and unhoned to the risk and detriment of the world.

The Clarey Podcast Now on iTunes

Our Eastern European IT Genius in the Field has also managed to get The Clarey Podcast on iTunes for all you communists...errr....ummmm..."Apple users."

Next step will be to get on Stitcher, which I have no clue what it is or why I'm trying to get on it, but the kids nowadays say it's all the rage.

If there are any problems downloading or accessing the podcasts please let me know.

Many thanks,

Cappy

Communism + Super Fastfoward = Capitalism

The thing that stuck out most to me in this video is how the director HAD to fast forward the video to make the city look like it was bustling.  But if you were to play it at normal speed, you'd notice the SEVERE and DRAMATIC lack of human (and therefore) economic activity in the country.

The ONLY thing of economic noteworthiness was the DHL truck which I was amazed to see in operation.  The rest, if you can slow it down to normal real life speed, is actually depressing.

Fun Times Guarding Saudi Princes

I can't think of a more deserving group of people than Saudi princes to get robbed for a quarter million.  However, this story made me realize something.

Most of those Saudi royalty people are grade A, arrogant, aloof, assholes.  They believe you are inferior to them and they have absolutely no appreciation for their wealth, their luck and their fortune.  They also are more than willing to play mind games, using Islam as a means to make your job of protecting them harder just for entertainment:

No men guards can watch over our women
Do not look at our women
No booze on the floor we stay on, even if it's other people that have nothing to do with our party
We need Muslim compliant food, fetch us some.
Etc.

Thus, while at the time I thought it was pretty cool to be providing security from one of the Saudi princes, in truth I was just putting myself in danger for a professional hit like this.  No job, no money, and certainly no Saudi royalty is worth being in harm's way.

So for any young men out there across the world who are approached with the opportunity to play security guard to a Saudi prince, yes the pay might be good, but you're likely putting yourself in a situation where you might have to fire a gun (and suffer the legal consequences) of protecting what amounts to nothing more than one of the biggest douches in the world.

Let the spoiled brat Saudi princes protect themselves.

With many thanks to our Eastern European Tech Guru in the Field The Clarey Podcast now officially has an RSS feed and will (hopefully) be on iTunes soon as well.

Book Review - The Great Deformation

The Great Deformation, by David Stockman of Reagan admin fame, is a detailed and precise account of how (among other things) socialism, central banking, monetary policy, and corruption in the financial service sector has so warped and distorted the pricing mechanism of the financial markets that it has ultimately impaired and crippled the free market from functioning properly.  Lacking this VITAL economic tool, the economy has since mal-invested in many bubbles resulting in a stagnation of our economy and no real economic growth, as well as no real hope for the future.

Ironically, those two lengthy sentences also epitomize the book because it is both lengthy and (unless you're an economist) doesn't make a lot of sense to the average person - thus the tragic and paradoxical nature of this otherwise excellent book.

There is absolutely NO DOUBT as to the quality, precision and workmanship Mr. Stockman put into this book.  His ability to explain precisely what was going on, who was responsible for it (the financial crisis), as well as his masterful use of the English language to explain it, is unrivaled.  The problem is that this brilliant piece of work has no obvious audience.

If you are an average person trying to understand the financial problems of the US and western civilization in general, this IS the book for you to read.  The problem is that it's written at such a high level of "economicness" you won't understand half of it and would have to commit to further educating yourself about economics that it would take a SOLID two months of DEDICATED self-education in the field.

Ironically, if you ARE educated in the field, and managed to be one of the few economists with his head out of his ass and Keynes' dick out of your mouth, you will certainly understand it, but it will be nothing new to you.  Mayhaps some details or observations you didn't know about (there are plenty in the book), but again, if you have the slightest bit of intellectual honesty and a drop of Austrian economic blood in your veins you will be fully aware of Mr. Stockman's points and positions.

Thus the tragedy about Mr. Stockman's book.

I would love to recommend it to beginners in economics as it is the veritable bible and account of what caused our current financial woes.  But it would be speaking in tongues to them.

And I would strongly recommend it to my economic colleagues...it's just they already know what Mr. Stockman wrote.

The true value of this book is sadly what many of us do so on a day to day basis:

Writing for posterity.

If there is a "primary" reason to own this book it is because it is a brilliant and detailed account and accord of what PRECISELY happened during the build up to, and the consequences of, the financial crisis and future crises that are about to happen.  It is not a novel to be consumed and then discussed at an intellectual light-weight "book club" in the suburbs sipping on $7 cup of Joe's at Starbucks pining when your sugar daddy husband is going to buy you another Range Rover, but rather a reference guide to consult when having serious discussions, and certainly policy issues if saner heads are ever elected into office.  In short, it is as if you took "50 Shades of Grey" and multiplied it by -1.

Not very exciting, but infinitely practical and helpful to society if they ever cared to give it two shits about it.

Thankfully, Mr. Stockman has a very good outline where, though titled eccentrically, chapters are labelled (more or less) categorically allowing you to consult topics specific to your interests/needs.  I would NOT recommend anybody read it cover to cover (which I did effectively while driving to Seattle and back via audio book), but instead purchase it and use it as a reference book for any point in time where discussion or debate requires an authoritative source as to the causes and consequences of the country's current finances.

You can find Mr. Stockman's book here and his other literary works here

The Epitome of Leftist Bias in Journalism

Every once in a while you get a photo or a picture that embodies EVERYTHING wrong with an entity, an ideology, a group, or a movement, etc.

This is one of those pictures which shows the:

A Political Analysis of ISIS

I think it sums it up actually quite nicely and accurately:

Two 20 Something Western Crusaders Get Their Comeuppance

I love it when "multiculturalism" and "social Marxism" eat their own.

But you know, never listen to that stale, old, boring Euro-centric wisdom that managed to create everything good in this world.  No, no, go on your crusade so you feel good about yourself and how open-minded you are.

Rural Revoltion

"Declaring a worthless major is simply shouting out to the world, 'I’m a parasite and have no intentions of working for a living. I want to do what I want to do and I want the rest of you to pay for it. I ultimately want to produce nothing society wants, but in return I demand other people slave away to make me MP3 players, computers, video games, as well as engineer hybrid cars and whatever else I want. I also want society to create some make-work job for me so my ego isn’t bruised and I can make-believe I’m a real-world-live adult too. And if you dare point out what I’m doing in the real world is nothing more than parasiting off of others, I’ll cowardly hide myself behind some altruistic crusade and accuse you of being a racist, a misogynist, or a hater of children.'"

Rural Revolution was kind enough to do a review.  She is also now on the blog roll.

Tasing Fat People at the Minnesota State Fair Episode

In this episode of The Clarey Podcast Aaron is in Seattle where he and his friend discuss;

Cappy's aggressive driving
Idiots who stand in line for 2 hours to get coffee at the original Starbucks
Ruining his reputation by helping a kid
Trying to remember the lyrics (and meaning) to the Frasier theme song while in Seattle

and

Cappy's dream of being airdropped into the Minnesota State fair armed with tasers where he goes on a tasing rampage

(You'll also note we've switched from Box.com to Podomatic.  The download button IS THERE on their online player, but it is not obvious.  I apologize in advance.  Swear to Christ these programmers do not think of user friendliness when laying out their web sites.  HOwever, this will allow for RSS feeds, iTunes and Stitcher radio in the near future)

Post post - Davis Aurini found out the meaning behind the lyrics to "Tossed Salads and Scrambled Eggs"

When Robots Replaced Liberal Arts Majors

If you really want to be on the cutting edge of economic thought, the concept of robots making human labor obsolete is the place to be.

This does not really threaten people who are willing to expend the calories of energy to learn skills and trades that either cannot be replaced by robots or that are in the fields of developing, building, maintaining and programming said robots.

But if you're a talentless "liberal arts" major working as a barrista

or

An idiotic customer service worker in Seattle who thought the minimum wage of $15 was a great idea

you may want to rethink you're grand strategy of just "forcing" employers to pay you more when your lack of genuine skills can be automated at a fraction of the cost.

But, you know, hey, you go and "major in what your heart tells you" and see how well that poppycock strategy developed in the 50's works for you.  The rest of us will be preparing for the 2020's.

Why Most People Just Can't "Go Galt"

I was listening to The Black Brigade's latest podcast whilst hiking Trapper Peak.  And among their topics de jour was the recurring theme of "going Galt."  This particular instance however, was prompted by local radio show host Jason Lewis walking off the job claiming he had had enough and was no longer going to serve as a host to what is nothing more than the parasites of society.

They applauded his decision, as do I, but they then went onto ask the question, "Why don't more talk radio hosts" or "leaders" in the conservative/libertarian movement provide a how to, or actually go Galt themselves?  Matter of fact, why don't just 10% of conservatives, libertarians or as I like to call them "Real Americans" go Galt, crashing this entire corrupt system?

Well, lieutenants and economists, I already had the answer before I made it back to the trail head.

Understand that the number one thing preventing conservatives and libertarians from going Galt and "starving the beast" is that they are saddled with debt.  This may at first sound odd that conservatives and libertarians would have such finances, but consider the fact that most people incur debt when they are younger

which consequently means

made those decisions to incur debt when they were statistically likely to be more liberal

and you can see why even "savvy" conservative/libertarian types just can't "go Galt."

If you look at the decisions that result in life's major debts, they are typically made during their "dumbass 20 something leftists phase" ie - before one turns 30.

Student loans
Credit card/consumer spending
Car loans, and of course the biggest ball and chain of them all
Mortgages

This results in an irony, if not a fiscal tragedy, where future and theoretical "Galtists" who would love nothing more than to go Galt, can't, simply because they are saddled with too much debt FORCING them to remain in the work force till their debts are paid and their mortgage gone.  You add in marriage and children, and your average male "Galtist" can only wistfully pine about going Galt just as much as he can "buying a motorcycle and heading to Sturgis without permission."

The result is a phenomenon the Manosphere calls the "Wage Mule" or "Debt Slave."  Stupid decisions made in the past condemn the rest of your life to severely limited choices and potential, effectively ruining your life, and certainly making lofty, idealistic political maneuvers such as "going Galt" an impossibility.

There is however, good news.

While Gen X may have been the last generation to partially swallow the

"House
College
Wife
Kids"

propaganda, Gen Y/the Millenials didn't.  Additionally, a good percentage of Gen X also postponed marriage, or avoided it all together.  In other words, Americans, despite their horrendous stupidity, are actually starting to learn from their predecessors, and with the breaking of the social contract between men and women and default and unconscious "going Galt" is already occurring.

Men just aren't proposing as much as they used to and if they do, they wait till they're well into their 30's to do so.  Also, unless you're an illegal immigrant or are too stupid to do basic division and understand the concept of income per capita, people are having less kids.  Thirdly, the economy is so poor, an entire generation has had the forced lesson of minimalism forced on them.  And finally, if you look at labor force participation rates, people are wising up (even feminist-fed women) and realizing that yes, work indeed sucks. In other words, society is slowly "going Galt" as they respond to the perverse and country-destroying policies socialists have enacted upon society.  This may not be the "rapid" "starve the beast TODAY" sort of strategy idealistic Galtists want, but it is to show them that what they wish for is already happening naturally.  Perhaps not at the pace they wanted, but it is happening and it cannot be stopped.

The real issue, however, is one of hope.  Galtists (theoretical or not) deep down inside want to starve the beast TODAY with the hopes that a new society would emerge from the ashes so quickly that they would be able to participate and enjoy said new society during their lifetime.  The problem is that society is too glacial, America too entrenched economically and globally, and our citizenry too fat, stupid and endebted that this will never happen.  Most people alive today will die watching a declining America, not a phoenix from the ashes.  It will be future generations that will witness a reality-forced destruction of socialist America, and a resurrection, if there ever is one.

"Tampon Journalism" of The Guardian

The REAL story here is not the click bait of a hopeless dependent and childish feminist who demands tampons be made free for all women.

It's that The Guardian would even consider publishing such pointless trash, which belies just how obsolete the MSM has become.

Seattle to Billings

Howdy Lieutenants!

Made a rocket run from Seattle to Billings, Montana, and after sleeping in, I shall head out and hunt down some moss agates as well as fossils in SE Montana.

In the meantime wanted to share a couple pictures with you all.  One is a picture of a bridge in Washington.  I thought the state of Washington was all trees and mountains, but instead it's truthfully mostly prairie and desert, interrupted with the occasional Columbia river or random lake.  Also included is a picture of Lake Coeure d' Alene (which I only drove past during night and never had time during the day to swim in, which I did) and the bar in Kellogg, Idaho where my "Staph Infected Hippie Chick" story was from, that is now closed.

Why You Must Suffer

and put up with yet another horrifying, painful picture of the most recent Book Babe.

"Behind the Housing Crash" was written quite some time ago, and though sales have obviously dwindled, for some reason I think there may be a slight resurgence.

Leif - "Seattle's Royal Enfield"

Met up with a fan Leif from Seattle who drove a Royal Enfield motorcycle.  The motorcycle is about 4 times older than he is, but he still allowed me to sit on it.

Cappy's Great Montana Adventure

Hello Lieutenants, Economics, Cappy Cappites and Chillldren!

An Economist Explains Russia's Sanctions

Jerry Robinson is an economist who I reference frequently because he is one of the economists I keep learning from AND he's younger than me.  Saw this while loading up the ole podcast in anticipation of my road trip and thought many of you would enjoy it as well.

My apologies for the fewer amounts of posts during the summer, but I am trying to enjoy summer while it's here and avail myself of the excellent weather.  Normal blogging will return to a more normal level in late August.  In the meantime I strongly suggest you also enjoy the summer and not read up too much on economics, politics, etc., during these waning days of summer.

Oh, the Irony

And just 5 years ago Kirchner and Obama were best of buds.

Thursday Night Linkage

No amount of protests will change reality and truth.  Also note the hyphenated name.

More insight into the psychology of leftists.

Suing Breitbart's widow.

Why the university system hates America and is nothing more than an arm of socialism.

New Sponsor - Talon Bottle Opener

Greetings All!

We have a new sponsor.   A reader is raising funds via Kick Starter for his own little entrepreneurial venture.  Looking to raise a modest amount of $2,500 so he can manufacture and sell the "Talon Bottle Opener" which serves as a bottle opener, but also as this kind of Swiss Army knife sort of thing that organizes keys, making key chains unnecessary.  Getting my copy in the mail and will do a review later, but in the meantime if you want to help a fellow entrepreneur out consider going to his Kickstarter page and tossing the guy a couple bucks.

Thanks for your readership and support,

Cappy

Road Tripping to Seattle

In my life mission to enjoy the decline and pursue leisure over labor, I will be road tripping it to Seattle.  No real route is planned and no itinerary set but if you are in the Dakotas/Montana/Wyoming, Idaho/Washington area I may be coming through and more than happy to grab a beer or a coffee or shoot guns.  Will be leaving tomorrow morning so give a shout out here if you're around.  I do know I am VERY likely to be staying in Missoula, MT and hiking Trapper's Peak near Darby, MT.   Then off to Seattle, return trip is eehhhhhh...TBD.

Anyway, let the ole Captain know if you're around.

More Proof Americans Don't Understand Business

and consequently don't deserve the republic, let alone can be trusted with a democracy.

OK, I'll give you the abbreviated version of this.

A restaurant in Stillwater, MN puts  a "surcharge" listed as "minimum wage tax" to cover the recently increased minimum wage.

Now you,
me,
and anybody with half a f*cking brain knows that this is merely a play on words

That no matter how they break down the bill ALL OF THE EXPENSES HAVE TO BE PAID BY THE CUSTOMER!

It's always been that way.
It will always be that way.
And if it stops being that way, then the company goes bankrupt because it's NO LONGER PROFITABLE.

But oh no.  That's too complicated for the "brilliant" American people.

No, read the comments and take in the galactical stupidity of some of our brothers and sisters.

Cripes, I need a book babe to lower my blood pressure.

The Problem With Wisdom

Sadly, all of us “older, wiser men” have to admit we have no way to “force” you to accept and incorporate our wisdom. We cannot guarantee that had you pursued that career in music therapy you would NOT have become successful. We cannot guarantee that had you tried to get into investment banking you would NOT have become a millionaire. And we cannot guarantee that had you tried to become a basketball star you would not have become the next LeBron James. But if we were to switch it, focusing instead on the risks and consequences of you FAILING, rather than what idealistically “may have been,” perhaps these severe costs will make you heed our words.

The Newest Cappy Cap Model

While I know you guys all clamor for more charts and graphs, unfortunately, we here at Cappy Cap have to get serious every once in a while and make you look at pretty conservative and libertarian girls.

Now, I know, I know, I don't like it any more than you do, but it's got to be done and the sooner we do it, the sooner it will be over with.

We only have like 4 or 5 more of these, so just be patient and we'll get through this.  In the meantime buy Worthless.

Oh, she also said you should listen to The Clarey Podcast.

Yeah, It's Like "Swingers"

Had the honor of meeting Average Married Dad and this was the results.  And yes, it is kind of like the movie "Swingers."

He has a book out which I will review later.

Why Keynesianism Is Immoral

A recent intellectual epiphany I had was that to debunk religion one cannot look "forward," but rather "backward."  What this means is that if you are going to try to debunk a religion (or philosophy or ideology, etc.) you cannot further argue within the context of that religion (philosophy, ideology, etc.).  You merely abide by the rules laid out by said religion and in doing so get into semantical arguments that never resolve anything.

No, one must go BACKWARDS and ask basic elementary questions about the entire religion (ideology, philosophy, etc.) itself, challenging the PREMISES by which the entire religion is founded upon.  And once those premises are proven to be false or at least unfounded or immoral, then the entire belief system itself can be called into question, if not, completely debunked.

And I believe Keynesianism is one such ripe candidate.

Let us say that Paul Krugman is 100% correct.
Barack Obama is 100% correct.
Janet Yellen is 100% correct.
And John Maynard Keynes himself was 100% correct.

My question is simply - so what?

And the reason my question, in spite of them all being theoretically 100% completely correct, is "so what" has nothing to do with being right or the efficacy of their policies.  It has to do with whether their actions, claims, or demands upon an economy are moral.  What right do they have to demand such behavior from other individuals?

Take smoking for example.

Right now private property rights are being violated across the globe because some people believe that just because they're right, their "rightness" trumps people's individual liberty and choice.  Thus, now, even though people "own" their property in the form of bars and restaurants, those people have no rights as to whether or not to allow smoking, not to mention smokers who would like to smoke on private property where it would have otherwise been allowed.

Does smoking cause cancer?

Absolutely yes.

Should you not smoke?

Absolutely yes.

Are the anti-smoking Nazi's right?

100% right.

Still does not give them the right to tell other people what to do with their bodies.

And it is here that is the core to Keynesianism's immorality - they deny people's right to self-determination.

Let us be clear what Keynesianism is.

It is the belief that the government has the right to intervene in the economy (read- individuals' lives) to "make things better."

Noble or not
Honorable or not
RIGHT or not

that one belief transgresses the individual and makes Keynesianism a true evil in that it violates people's individual choice, individual freedoms, and individual decisions.  It forces the will of a few government bureaucrats and politicians on the masses because "they know better."  It dares to suggest some people know what's best for you AND GRANTS THEM THE AUTHORITY to intervene.

The problems and threats with such an economic religion (and that's what it is) are obvious to anybody with half a brain and an ounce of intellectual honesty.

1.  In the Keynesian World nobody learns from their mistakes.

Spit out more kids that you can afford?
Lend to douchebag cronies who are connected to the banking system?
Major in stupid ass liberal arts suburbanite chicky girl studies?

Never fear!  Government bailouts are here!

Understand that with a philosophy of Keynesianism any mal-investment that results in a crash or a recession is "magically" undone by merely pumping more money into the economy or (more the more vote-getting solution) bailing out people from their spectacular mistakes.  This means that nobody can fail, and in nobody failing, nobody learns from their mistakes.  The consequences are disastrous as amply displayed by the black community.  The "hot stove" in the form of "illegitimate children" is never seared in pain with the bearing the full costs of rearing one's own child.  Keynesian bailouts merely moot the pain, denying 70% of the black population a much needed lesson in profitability, finance and survivability, and sadly condemning them to a life of poverty.   And before you get all pissy and set your phasers to "accuse of racism" it's functionally no different than the denizens of lily white bankers who got bailed out just the same.

2.  Keynesianism Is Too Easily Abused By Politicians

Hmmm....let's think this one through.

"Unlimited government spending"

WITH

"the power to bail out people for their mistakes"

COMBINED WITH

"a democracy."

Oh, no.  No potential for amoral politicians to abuse this economic philosophy by

1.  Spending money till the cow come home to
2.  Bail out and thus bribe the idiot classes of society to vote for them because
3.  In a democracy every person, welfare queen or not gets the vote

No, no politician would EVER sacrifice the future integrity of the country's finances and economy to win votes now at the expense of a mortgaged future. No, would never happen.

And finally...

3.  They're Completely Wrong Anyway

I'd like to say the Keynesians were right, but truthfully that was just a handicap I gave to what is nothing more than the biggest frauds, shysters, intellectual weaklings and parasitic academians currently heading up our government, media, and educational institutions.  If there's one thing to learn from the Obama administration it's that Keynesianism

just
does
not
work.

Forgot the moral argument that Paul Krugman has the right to tell you how much money you should earn, keep, save, spend, invest, be taxed upon, etc., because according to his wee-little academic econometrics model it's "what's best for society"

they're all wrong and (worse still)

they all know it (and worse still than that)

they don't care.

They are nothing more and nothing better than the modern day Catholic church killing people for reading the bible or being literate.  They wish to retain their power by keeping the masses ignorant about economics.  But unlike Europeans during the Dark Ages, most Americans are willing to be fattened and satiated watching The Bachelorette and getting some "great apps" at Applebee's.  Just remember come next fourth of July our founding fathers aren't rolling in their graves as much as you're merely pissing on them.

Why You Should Never Go to STEM Grad School

From our STEM Advanced Degreed Agent in the Field:

I just read your book “Bachelor Pad Economics” and discovered your other work; I thought it was great.  I’ve done pretty well for myself so far but I still wish I had that book years ago.  I would like to share my story about grad school in STEM.  Don’t worry, there’s a happy ending – sort of – but I wanted to share my experience with others and invite you to comment.

I grew up in a blue collar family in the mid-west and didn’t have much of money to go to college, so for my undergraduate I went to the satellite campus for a larger university that was about an hour from my parent’s house.  I decided to study computer science and I had won some great scholarships that covered the cost of tuition.  I did very well in the program and despite not having attended a big name school, I was able to score some paid internships with a large and prestigious tech company.  In my senior year I had great grades, more than a year’s work experience in the field, more money in the bank than when I started, and a sunny and idealistic outlook.  All of my professors said that I should go to grad school though and so instead of going to work upon graduation I went over to main campus to pursue my master’s degree.

First thing first, never go to grad school just because you are smart and hardworking enough to get in.  In grad school you need to focus on a narrow subtopic of your field and do “original research” so that you can publish journal papers that hardly anyone reads and beg the government for grant money.  You do this research under an adviser, who is basically a manager.  Your adviser provides you with lab space, finds sources of government funding, signs off on your coursework and thesis, tries to micromanage you, and then takes credit for your research despite not knowing the first thing about it.  You should start looking for an adviser before picking a grad school to make sure you are actually interested in the research the lab is engaged in.  In my case, my adviser sold me on a bill of goods about applying artificial intelligence to medical research being done at a more prestigious university.  In reality, he didn’t have a clue what these medical researchers were actually doing, he just had a friend who was doing a postdoc – that’s when you have a PhD but instead of finding a real job you work under a professor doing research – in that lab, and they were willing to accept me as free labor.  By the time I realized that I wasn’t going to be working on anything like what had been described to me, it would have been politically difficult to back out because my adviser had already bragged to the dean that he had established a collaborative research project with this other university.  Basically, I ended up finding some little niche where I could write computer programs that processed some data that the MDs couldn’t.  The work was incredibly tedious at times, and it wasn’t anything like what I had been sold on, but at least I was able to squeeze a thesis out of it and get the hell out of dodge.

My adviser used various forms of manipulation to pressure me to go get a PhD.  He even asserted that it wouldn’t overqualify me for any jobs, which I knew for a fact to be utter nonsense.  If you have a PhD that focuses on an area that isn’t applicable to the job you’re applying for, most big companies won’t consider you.  I decided to find a job with the company I had interned with as an undergrad.  When my adviser found out, he added a requirement that I write another paper before he would allow me to defend my thesis.  This delayed me by several months, resulted in me spending my last couple of weeks in grad school basically homeless and crashing on other people’s couches, and forced me to spend my last summer before starting work cooped up in a windowless room trying to throw together some nonsense paper.

It’s not to say it was all bad.  I actually enjoyed being a teaching assistant.  I would routinely get comments from students that I explained the material much better than the professors.  I lost something though, and not just the two years of my youth it had taken me to complete the program.  The whole thing made me much more bitter and cynical.  I got to see how professors really spend most of their time begging for grant money rather than teaching students or doing research themselves.  I got to see how a lot of these professors care more about prestige than actually advancing the frontiers of human knowledge.  I got to see how universities will spare no expense in building and updating facilities that parents and prospective students see during their campus tour but never seem to have enough money to buy quality equipment for student labs.  By chance, I actually got to overhear a conversation about hiring a new faculty member in which the only thing that was discussed was the effects on the department’s diversity rather than the qualifications of the different candidates.

Now that’s all over though, I’m making plenty of money and living comfortably.  Yes, I still deal with the typical corporate bullshit and I have to put up with Orwellian pandering to women and minorities.  A great example of this is the time when I was struggling to secure approval for necessary business travel while the company was flying women from around the world down to some “women in engineering” event – which from what I could gather consisted of a bunch of ego-stroking talks about how victimized they all are followed by a trip south of the border to party and shoot tequila.  It doesn’t help that I’m now living in a liberal namby-pamby state either, but at least there is still the internet where people are willing to talk plain truth.  All I need to do now is get to a point where I’m financially independent and finally say “fuck you” to all of this nonsense.

Thanks for being out there.
