When you have no real problems your life is simple and your greatest desires are for material possessions; when you have a real problem material possessions just don’t seem that important anymore. For the most part, children growing up in the western world are lucky to the extent that they will be free of most real problems for most of their lives; and therefore Christmas is a holiday where they endlessly wish for something that can be bought in a store.
On t'other hand, when asked what he wanted to be when he grew up, Linus replied, "Outrageously happy."
