You All Just Paid My Rent

As you know your beloved Captain has a...um...."special gift."  And that "special gift" is the natural and unconscious ability to irk and piss off authority, bosses, supervisors and bureaucratic types without even trying.  Could be my demeanor, could be my lack of patience for politics, corruption and lying.  Could be I'm not an obedient type.  Whatever it is, I do it better than anybody I know and deep down inside I think most of us like it when somebody tells an incompetent or corrupt boss to shove it.

Well Cappy Cappites, good news.

Not only can we all give our previous bosses the proverbial bird, we can now add icing to the cake because you all just made me enough money to pay for my rent via my Amazon Affiliate program.

If you don't know already, in addition to books, I make money on this thing called the "Amazon Affiliate Program" and NO it isn't one of those "ponzi multi-level marketing things."

How it works is that instead of you spending the time, money  and gas going to Wal-Mart or a store, you show the Captain your love by clicking on the Amazon link in the right sidebar and buying whatever you need (and TRUST ME, Amazon has WHATEVER YOU NEED!).  During your browsing/shopping session items you buy are assigned a code indicating you came from this here blog.  And then, whatever you buy, toilet paper, video games, mittens, etc., is not only conveniently shipped right to your house, the ole Captain gets a 6-8% commission on those purchases.

• You get stuff you HAD TO GET ANYWAY
• The Captain gets a little commish on the side
• We all share "Warm Cappy Cap Fuzzies"

All it takes is a simple mental adjustment to realize, "hey , wait, I can get that cheaper on Amazon and don't have to drive to Wal-Mart AND the Captain gets warm fuzzies."  Everyday you have to buy something, so you might as well buy it here. And if you REALLY want to help the ole Captain out, it's as simple as book-marking the Amazon page in the "Favorites" list on your browser.

As I said before, you all bought enough this past month that it covers my net mortgage payment.  I thought it was going to be beer money when I first set up the program.  But regardless the freedom you guys afford me by being thoughtful enough to purchase your items through here means the world to me and for that I am very thankful.

Besides, just imagine all those middle management banker types who swore I would fail.  Now they watch me sleep in till 10AM everyday, write books AND still make a living.  You can not only enjoy their misery and envy as they try to collect SBA ARC loan guarantees (just a little inside humor there), you can contribute to their misery by buying your wares via the Ole Captain and rub it in their faces.

And what's more fun than pissing off inept, corrupt bankers!

I Change Lives, You Don't

You know how 18 year old kids when they declare "education" as their major say they do so because they want to "change the lives of children?"

I always got a kick out of that because you effectively have children claiming they're going to change the lives of children slightly younger than them...and usually for the worse because they themselves have nowhere near the real world experience to make them adults and therefore impart practical and helpful wisdom upon the youth.

So you can imagine the warm fuzzies when I got this review about "Worthless" from a 17 year old kid:

"Worthless" by Aaron Clarey is perhaps the most eye-opening book I have ever read. As a 17 year old high school senior, I, along with many of my friends, receive very little guidance in choosing our major. Everyone tells us that we can truly make it with whatever we choose, and that our major will be more than our moneys worth. "Worthless" provides the disillusionment that we might not want, but absolutely need when picking our major. All of Clarey's explanations make logical sense, and while his slightly annoying Republican side occasionally emerges, his tone is mostly a blunt honesty that is a shower of wisdom. Read this book, then give it to someone else who needs to pick a major, and perhaps eventually everyone will know the truths within the university system.

I'll admit an inch of warm fuzzies and pride, but what gets me though is that these counselors and STILL not telling these kids the truth.

You education (ahem, COUGH COUGH, WHEEZE WHEEZE!!!) "professionals" want to help "change the lives" of children?

Here's something revolutionary-

Instead of changing them for the worse, how about you tell them the truth and change their lives for the better.  They'll appreciate it more and be less likely to cut your social security and public pension when they get older and see just how valuable the "education" you gave them was.

My wife and I recently retired. For the past few years we have been considering moving south to enjoy retirement. I have always admired the American people and looked forward to being among them. Four years ago we were rather taken aback by Obama's win but considered it a "one off" and that things would get back to normal in a few years.
Last Tuesday's results made up our minds. We are giving up any hope of moving to the US in the near future. We aren't rich by any means but we have sufficient funds to live well and support ourselves in a very reasonable manner. Quite frankly, we are scared at what the USA has become.
and in what direction it is going. Canada has been good to us but we felt that living in the US would better fit our desires in retirement.
We are staying put. This country has a lot more going for it than the USA at this time in our lives. We'll put up with the winters and all.
It is so very sad what has happened to the USA in so few years.

The Gay Shock Is Over

Yes, yes, I know, it's hard to believe that after 30 years of having it shoved down our throats, when you throw in a "gay" angle in a movie or a show, it is no longer;

No, it's quite bland and overdone.

You see, I was in Arizona earlier this year visiting my best friend who happens to be gay.  He is also an artist and a real one, not one of those minimalist connected trust fund babies who have no skill.

All that being said he is definitely eclectic and took me and one of his friends to an independent film - "Farewell to the Queen."

It was the worst movie I had seen in years.  I would have left early, but my friend and his friend were hoping it would get better.

It didn't.

But hey, there was no lack of innuendo that MAYBE THE QUEEN OF FRANCE WAS (GASP!!!)

GAY!

Wow, zinger.  Shocking.

When the queen kissed her assistant.

Yeah, nobody flinched.

The movie suddenly ended, implying that the shocker was that "there was a possibility" the queen of France was gay.  That was the whole freaking point of the movie.

So for all of you who are in the creative arts industries, could you drop the gay thing already?

Most of us accept gay people.  Most of us befriend gay people.  Most of us don't bat an eye at people being gay.

Please come up with something else to be "shocking" and "cutting edge."  30 years of this one trick pony is tiresome.

Yes, we have considered moving there (from Alberta)...

...I'd rather live in Mexico... sure, most people do not have the
latest iPad and/or drive a $80,000 SUV, but family rules, weather is
better, food is better, and opportunity... if you can speak Spanish
well and understand the culture well, the sky is the limit... and you
can live very well in Mexico with less $ than here... plus I do feel
kinship with my Mexican cousins, what can I say? Twinned history
weighs heavily in our hearts and all that... (at least for me it's
true!)

I have felt safer walking around Durango on my own at 1am than I would
in most British town centres or most large cities in the US... yes,
there are issues with narcos in Mexico... everybody is FED UP with
them, narcos have little (if any) popular support these days... most
people just want to be able to go to work so they can spend weekends
with their families, maybe go out for lunch on Sundays... it seems to
be happening.

PART 2

Our friend Hussein is going to finish bankrupting the US... *IF*
society does not re-elect his successor in 4 years time, it will still
take 20 years for the US to climb out of the pit... if ever again...
now, I am not surprised Romney lost... not a mainstream candidate (I
have heard too many swing people say they hated Obama but equally did
not like Romney... this people probably did not vote, hence handing a
victory to Hussein)...

Again, I think the US would do best to split up into a successful core
(i.e. most of the MidWest, Texas) and two coastal, socialist polities,
one being loopy (and eventually bankrupt) and likely to be gobbled up
by Mexico culturally then physically (West Coast), the other one a
europhile soft Socialist polity (the East Coast) that will do OK,
though not as well as the old US... my thoughts, anyways...

No Rings for Liberal Women

As I'm enjoying the decline today I will be providing the cliff notes version of my thoughts.  You can fill in the rest.

In short, women, especially single women, heavily prefer to vote for socialism.

I don't think they even know why beyond a "I want to help the children" or "spending money on the unfortunate sounds nice."  Subconsciously, even consciously, though, I believe they also like the idea of having a father/husband/provider figure in the form of the government in that it not only fulfills the financial-provider role, but there is no payment or consequences for such services.  They need not to commit to any one man.  They need not to be held to a certain set of standards by any one man.  They need not rear their own children nor pay for their children.  100% freedom with 0% responsibility.  In short, no earthly man can compete with the metaphorical "Supreme State Alpha Man" because we (unlike the state) do not have access to the entire financial resources of a $15 trillion economy.

Now, again, as I mentioned in my previous post, it doesn't matter what you would LIKE to happen or how you would LIKE things to be.  This IS how things ARE.  You must accept that and adapt to this environment.  Women prefer the government over men.

Or do they?

It is here I have an evil smirk on my face.

What's the one thing the government can't provide to a woman?

That's right, intimacy.  Namely marriage.  But everything that goes through their brains when you mention "marriage."

"Their day."

"Rocking chair time."

"Frivolities in the kitchen."

"Romantic dinners."

Everything society has built up in their little minds as to just how glorious marriage and the married life is CANNOT be provided by the state.  And it is the one thing you have that they want.  And want it they will when they realize all the government programs in the world won't cuddle up next to her in bed on a cold winter night.

Therefore gentlemen I say "no rings for liberal chicks."

You want to jack up my taxes so you can major in Social Work or English or some other such hobby? Fine, no ring for you.

You want to jack up my taxes to pay for your unnecessary government job as a "child counselor?"  Fine, no ring for you.

You want to jack up my taxes to rear and educate your children?  Fine, no ring for you.

You want to jack up my taxes because you think you have a right to it and are going to spend it on people you deem "less fortunate?"  Fine, no ring for you.

Women have made it very clear who they want to take care of them.  The state.  Of course that still means "us" because we pay the taxes, but with the state acting as a middle man or intermediary, we no longer get to attach strings to said funds meaning there are no standards in terms of how our money is spent (frugally preferably), how our children are raised (by parents, not the state or the education system), how our labor market works (the best are hired, not quotas) and how our economy is ran (with no government interference, not government omnipotence) or what investments are made (infrastructure, not "the chillllldrnnnnnn").

You liberal women made it very clear who you want to marry.  You want to marry Big Daddy G (government).  And I find it hard to propose to somebody who's already married.  I suggest men get a little bit of self-respect here and do the same.

How Do You Fight Such Ignorance?

First, to quote Spike Spiegel, "What happens, happens."

Good luck trying to fight against it. You must realize what little power over your world and environment you have.  And once you realize you don't control your environment, you realize that all you can do is control you.  So you must adapt to your environment, no matter how unfair, harsh or psychotic it gets.

Second, you can't fight ignorance.  Stupid, you can remedy.  But you can't fight ignorance, let alone religious zealotry.  Even if those are people and you are right, you will drive yourself insane trying to rationalize or reason with them.

You do, however, have several options that can hedge against the stupidity of people.

Capital and intellectual flight.

Preparation/insurance

And what did the ole Captain say on Nov 5th?
