When the Real World Crushes the Hippies

I'll say it again for the cheap seats;

EVERY GENERATION has its Volcker Recession. ie-when the little kiddies who were spoon fed flowers and puppies and unicorns and socialism all of the sudden are adults and have to grow up. Oh sure they go through a temper tantrum, protesting Vietnam or Wall Street or whatever bogeyman is to blame for their laziness and sloth at the time, but in the end it basically boils down to the real world hitting them upside the head and telling them they have to produce or sink.

What we have today is largely my generation and "Gen Y' throwing their tantrum. When they either have kids, realize whining doesn't pay the bills, etc. etc., or even go so far as to have an epiphany about economics, they may have a Reagan Revolution that ends this current Great Recession just like the real Ronald Reagan ended the Volcker Recession.

Until that happens you can expect there to be a gap between what my generation is capable of and what we actually produce, just like the Baby Boomers back in the 70's;

I put it in terms of percentages because the above data was not in real terms, this shows the difference between real and potential more clearly;

What the millenial protestors appear to be capable of producing, are signs with mis-spellings, poorly reasoned arguments, and Tumblr photos explaining why, unlike everybody else, we should be expect to pay their bills.

So maybe they're already contributing all they are capable of contributing to society. You can't ask a baby to do non-Euclidian geometry, or ask a dog to meow, so why would you expect one of these pampered, dreamy twits to be a productive member of society? Talk about the harsh bigotry of high expectations...

Everyone is laughing these guys off. Remember the Russian and China Marxist movements started out as a small movement. These Occupy people state the exact same goals as Lenin and Mao. I even saw one Utube where the kid stated that he wanted all rich people including Bush killed. Well guess what happened to rich people in Russia and China?
Also, most US polls indicate support for the protesters.
I can not help getting a little worried, when I see pro-Marxist demonstrations in the USA.

It isn't just the fuggin hippies - it happens to ALL the kids that go through pubic skule. (Probly because most teachers are leftist ass hats, I suppose...)

They are taught that they are unique, that they are special and that they all have special gifts. They are taught that in spite of all that we are all equal and all the same. Some of us got that warm fuzzy shit at home too.

When I got gobsmacked by reality as a young man, I learned that I wasn't special or particularly gifted or intelligent. In fact, if ya want to be honest about it all - I learned I was pretty damned stupid and ugly too! All that in the midst of a big recession like you kids are having right now.

I shouldn't toot my own horn, but I rallied once I learned the horrible truth. I learned to stifle myself when the Boss was full of shit; I learned how to brown nose on occasion, and when to fight. I worked a lot of shitty jobs that were beneath me. It taught me humility.

I know it is fashionable to pick on the feckless f-tards of Gen X and Gen Y - but there's quite a few of us that are smart cookies and know a few things.

There is a whole pile of leftwing/liberal/progressive birds coming home to roost, and the perch is a few birds away from breaking completely. Even the stupid kids will catch up when it does.

You younger guys keep your chin up and fly straight. There is a job and a future out there for you regardless of what socialists and their lickspittles do!

Anonymous 3:13, the Bolsheviks in Russia, and the People's Army in China, both made use of the chaotic conditions which came about as the result of the World Wars.

While I won't say some ugliness isn't headed our way, it probably will be something along the lines, at worst, of the Argentine "dirty war" of the seventies. Kidnappings, assassinations, bombings, disappearances, and the like.

"Well guess what happened to rich people in Russia and China?"

Rich people in China are invited to join the Communist Party.

The ruling elite is the ruling elite is the ruling elite...

What's the Tea Party going to do with this story?

"China's richest man Liang Wengen may join ruling elite

Liang Wengen with Angela Merkel in Berlin in January 2009 Liang Wengen made his fortune in China's construction boom

China's richest man is set to join the ruling Communist Party's Central Committee, media reports say.

If Liang Wengen, 55, is chosen by the party's 2012 congress, he will be the first entrepreneur to join the body, which in effect rules the country.

The BBC's Martin Patience in Beijing says this would be a hugely symbolic shift in the party's view of business.

Construction magnate Mr Liang topped both the Forbes and Hurun rich lists with a wealth of more than $9bn (£6bn).

The media reports said he had completed a vetting procedure for the 300-strong body and was on track for approval by the congress in October next year.

Our correspondent says China's wealthy are increasingly being courted by the party, which only started allowing businessmen into its ranks a decade ago.

Mr Liang's company Sany, which manufactures cranes and excavators, has benefited in recent years from China's building boom."
