I can't think of a more deserving group of people than Saudi princes to get robbed for a quarter million. However, this story made me realize something.
Most of those Saudi royalty people are grade A, arrogant, aloof, assholes. They believe you are inferior to them and they have absolutely no appreciation for their wealth, their luck and their fortune. They also are more than willing to play mind games, using Islam as a means to make your job of protecting them harder just for entertainment:
No men guards can watch over our women
Do not look at our women
No booze on the floor we stay on, even if it's other people that have nothing to do with our party
We need Muslim compliant food, fetch us some.
Etc.
Thus, while at the time I thought it was pretty cool to be providing security from one of the Saudi princes, in truth I was just putting myself in danger for a professional hit like this. No job, no money, and certainly no Saudi royalty is worth being in harm's way.
So for any young men out there across the world who are approached with the opportunity to play security guard to a Saudi prince, yes the pay might be good, but you're likely putting yourself in a situation where you might have to fire a gun (and suffer the legal consequences) of protecting what amounts to nothing more than one of the biggest douches in the world.
Let the spoiled brat Saudi princes protect themselves.

None of the armed security positions offer pay commensurate with the risks involved.
Just my opinion.
"Let the spoiled brat Saudi princes protect themselves."
Let anyone dependent on the petrodollar protect themselves, whether it's spoiled brat Saudi princes or pampered US bankers. Unfortunately those in the US military doing exactly that shitty kind of work can't stop casting their pearls before swine without severe negative consequences.
I support them to the extent the law requires, but I've never asked anyone to sign up, so my conscience is clear.
If you're gonna do armed security, it better be for an honest to goodness criminal, otherwise you won't get paid right.
A shipmate of mine does bodyguarding on the side, and has a nice little side business with some friends. They absolutely don't accept work from muslims, and there's nothing bigoted about it (IMO)- they welch on contracts all the time, and have the 'right' to do so when dealing with non-muslims- since they're usually just there for shopping, it's impossible to place a lien or bring suit on 'royalty' which includes thousands of 9th and 10'th cousins of some wog who once sold land to the Brits in 1890.
I remember in '91, Gulf War I, that the American soldiers couldn't celebrate because they were hold in Saudi Arabia.
Then I read that the rich jerks from Kuwait ran to the United States saying not only 'protect us' but barking orders to Americans to carry our bags.
I asked myself "Why we protecting those douche bags?'
Yep. Never do business with an Arab/Muslim. I've worked for two defence contractors that got shafted for 7 figures by them. In their mind, if they find a way to screw you, that just means they're better businessmen than you. If you must work with them, get the money up front. The term 'Arab trader' exists for a reason.
The west is very different from the middle east.
Some key differences:
Parallel cousin marriages, that is inbreeding. Its very common in the middle east. The effects of this cannot be understated, its huge. Strict prohibition of unrelated male/female socializing enforcement of Islamic dress-codes all have to do with enforced inbreeding. This produces a clannish fiefdom like culture not to mention the deleterious health effects both mental and physical.
Polygamy, still common in the middle east. Also exorbitant dowries. Its no surprise to see ISIS fighters all looking for wives in Iraq.
Slavery - it is effectively still widely practiced in the middle east.
