But You Can't Incorporate Economic Growth

Here's a fun game to play;

Budget Hero.

Shows you, you can't just "spend a little bit more on health, education and children."

But it doesn't account for economic growth from lower taxes.

This game shows you that there's almost no sensible way to reduce debt in the long-term without abolishing Social Security and Medicare. They should have included those two options to make it a really good game.

It just shows again how the existence of useless programs is simply taken for granted. That's disappointing.

I agree with dtrum, but I'd go even farther.

It's not just that they won't let you eliminate Social Security and Medicare. It's that they don't let you do anything that isn't supported by one of the two major parties. Eliminating entire unconstitutional departments, for example, would help a lot, but is not an available option.

All I can see is that this is a very cynical attempt to win sympathy for the major parties that they can't solve an unsolvable problem.

You should try SimuTrans. It's a bit like SimCity, except you're not playing an overbearing, communist mayor with a hard-on for zoning laws.

Basically, you're a freight/transport company. There are little factories and towns, and the idea is to make money by placing rail, roads, bus stops, etc to accommodate freight and mass transit.

What's funny about it is that the cities will grow based on how well you get stuff (and people) to and from them - and also subsidize your property. In other words, you'll have a 120mph, extremely well-financed, high-quality road running from one end of the map to the other. Then a city will grow just a little bit, "incorporate" your road into its down, and drop your road right there to about 15mph and make the mainstay of its traffic right there tractors.

You should try it :)
