I'll say it again for the cheap seats. Politicians, professors, bureaucrats, and ideologues value their jobs and their egos
more than the progress of the rest of society and its people. It's why they will overregulate an economy and make more laws than is necessary because their ego trumps any sense of "optimizing" the level of laws/regulations.
