Seriously, this is why I love The Economist. In one article the author nails three things I've been saying ever since this blog was formed and are very pertinent to today with all the celebrityship and flak Alan Greenspan's been getting;
1. THERE WAS NO RECESSION IN 2000-2001
2. IT'S NOT THE FEDERAL RESERVE'S JOB TO MAKE YOUR STOCKS AND HOUSE PRICE CONSTANTLY GO UP, IT'S JOB IS TO KEEP INFLATION LOW
3. A RECESSION MAY NOT BE THE WORST THING FOR THE AMERICAN ECONOMY
Just do what I do to pick up chicks, subscribe to The Economist.

Bravo - you've got good taste in post topics.
I've always thought that Bernanke was going to be the most intense inflation fighter, even to the point where he'd overdo it and cause an unnecessary recession.
Turns out I'm wrong - When faced with a slight recession he turns the other direction and risks stagflation. This might be popular and seemingly necessary now, but I swear it's going to backfire within a couple of years via a speculative growth crash.
Agreed, I just bought more foreign securities.
The Gen X'ers will have their own Volcker recession.
