I always got a kick how Apple users claim to be independent and avant garde, but Apple is hands down the most tyrannical and controlling company out there when it comes to their products. You can't plug in an iPhone like a thumb drive and transfer files. You HAVE TO go through the iPhone store if you wish to listen to any podcasts. And now, Apple can
just remotely slow your computer down if you downloaded the latest update. Perhaps you can all get some really cool tattoos to show how hip and independent you guys are.

You're right. I have used Apple products since 1992 and I'm done. Even though I am but a wee Minnesotan, Apple has finally pushed me over the edge. Waiter, a little ketchup for my Lutefisk, please.
How does someone "claim to be independent and avant garde" about their phone?? Talk about STRETCH. It's no different than Samsung users blathering on and on about how great their camera is, or how their glass is stronger, etc... Point is -- when you spend $600-$1000 on ANYTHING, you want to justify the purchase in some way, which means disparaging the closest competitor. With this post, I can only assume what you own :)
BTW -- I've NEVER heard of anyone purchasing their phone based on how "controlling" the manufacturer was.
Perhaps an Apple Approved barcode?
Bear in mind that their competition is Android by Google. Is that any better? :( I'm starting to miss my flip-phone.
What's Wrong with You Apple People?
They work for a company founded by a sociopath.

I believe the term is "cult".
I must admit that I generally approve of Apple's overall method of doing many things.
Full disclosure: While I use an iPhone, I do not consider myself an Apple fanboi. I do not have the cult-like mindset that the self-proclaimed avant-garde hipster/yuppie types have. To me, that mindset is moronic. To me, the phone is a phone with SMS capability and a few useful apps (Facebook and Instagram not being in the "useful apps" category).
However. Because the upper-management work-drones are the hipster/yuppie types, buying junk on the company dime, they can damn-well buy me an iPhone so that I have experience with it. That way I can support the assholes when they have problems.
So I do have two good things to say about Apple:
1/ They're fairly vigilant about making sure that various forms of malware junk don't make it into their online store. Not perfect, at all. Plus people can jailbreak their iPhones, void the warranty, and screw themselves up voluntarily. However, Apple does have a somewhat better set of barriers in place than Google Android has.
2/ Apple's iOS system update is vastly better than the Google Android system update. iOS system updates become available to all devices that aren't about 5 years old. Android updates are much worse, with variations for multiple different phone hardware. The phone manufacturer often doesn't provide updates. From listening to some of my friends grumble about doing upgrades on non-supported phones, you sometimes have to be quite tech-savvy to do it on your own.
Referencing the linked article - yeah, that was an exceptionally retarded decision on Apple's part. Batteries fail and wear out. Everybody with a billionth of a clue knows this, it's why we change batteries in radios and torches and cars and smoke detectors. Apple was completely stupid in trying to hide that the battery is failing.
Let the damn thing fail. Let the customer ring up and complain. Say to them: "Sounds like the battery is dying. If you bring it around we'll put a new one in for you." Problem complained about, problem solved, customer doesn't expect unrealistic stuff in the future. Win-win-win.
Here's a funny extra: the names of Google's Android versions. "Honeycomb." "Icecream Sandwich." To me this is dumb - a deliberate attempt to be cute, hip, and tongue-in-cheek pretentious/funny. "My phone's running Icecream Sandwich." The ordinary person in the street is looking at them as if they're deranged.
Imagine Bill Gates making a press announcement: "Gentlemen, we are pleased to unveil the new version of Windows for desktop systems. This is our new Windows Ham On Rye Edition." Ludicrous.

Not just Bitcoin, all of the major ones. Looks like the bubble is popping. Folks are taking their profits and running.
You mean...iPhone people. The Apple OS is the superior desktop/laptop OS. Who in the hell would want to put a thumb drive in a phone? Are you going to edit an Excel spreadsheet or make a PowerPoint on your phone? If I needed a dependable phone I'd bet on Apple. I have a 1994 Mac that still works. A ten year old iPod. And an original MacMini that works. And plenty of dead Android phones

Apple, Alphabet, Microsoft, Facebook, and Youtube are all equally foul. They ALL provide backdoors to the FedPigs to give them warrantless access to you through all of their "products". Microsoft still gives preferential treatment in their OS to Microsoft products. The real question is:
"What's wrong with you Big Tech People?"
Especially anyone who uses IoT in ANY flavor.
Well, Apple products cost more, their service centers (yes, you can't just take an Apple product ANYWHERE to be serviced) are full of rude and arrogant millennial know-it-alls who hate cushomers, and the products are a pain in the ass to maintain, upgrade, and service. THAT must be what makes Apple so special. Yeah, that's GOTTA be it. What an exclusive club to belong to!
