Minneapolis Fires Cops/Denies Recruits

Minneapolis is laying off some cops and denying new recruits positions.

But hey, at least we have "walk ambassadors."

And don't forget those $50,000 drinking fountains!

Now let's do the math. 10 $50,000 drinking fountains is $500,000.

Would Minneapolis been able to keep those 7 officers on the payroll with $500,000?

Liberals? Leftists? Repsonse please? Rationale? Explanation?

Here is how it works.

The leftists in office want to fund their pet projects, but that have that annoying "voters will only tolerate so many taxes before they vote for someone else." thing happening.
So, they seize on a budget crunch and start laying off cops and firemen.
The public (predictably) gets their knickers in a twist.
The politicians respond that they want to keep the police on the street, but just cannot afford it without raising taxes.
So, the public allows them to, "just this once" (yeah, right.)

Typical "spend then tax" liberal tactic. Surprising it still works, if you ask me.

I believe all state funded construction projects have to set aside a portion of the project cost to purchase "art". So I am guessing there is a lot more public money spent on "art" projects than just these water fountains.

CBMTTek is exactly right, happened here in Columbus, OH. So long as most voters don't know about their pet projects, or are unaware of how much they cost/how little they actually accomplish, it works. Another feather in democracy's cap.
