Free Labor Markets = More Jobs

Hmm...

Which country stands out the most...

Hmmmm....

Oh, that's right. The only capitalist one.

God I love The Economist.

I'm about 6 weeks behind my subscription. Last quarter kicked my ass - but I'm getting ready to go to Mises University for this summer's seminar in August. Also, hoping that this quarter my coursework won't be so reading intensive - we read Menger's Principles, Marshall's Principles, Keynes' General Theory, Friedman's Capt&Freedom, and Tullock/Buchanan Calculus of Consent.

For one course.

I miss the Economist's charts.

Those charts would be a little better if the scales were the same on all of them. Better yet, all the lines should be on one chart so the comparisons would stand out.

Captain:

I have a suggestion for a posting for your site.

Top 10 Us Government blunders in last 100 years:

Here's my list

1. The 16th amendment, authorizing the income tax (lump in here the whole 'progressive' tax structure that eventually followed)
2. Creation of the Federal Reserve (I'm counting this as a government-acquiesced event which put in place the machinery to devalue our currency)
3. The New Deal
4. Not pressing our advantage over the USSR at the end of WW2 which could have rid the world of the Bolsheviks and saved tens of millions of lives and unimaginable human suffering
5. The Great Society
6. Roe v. Wade
7. Woodrow Wilson's refusal to compromise on the Treaty of Versailles after World War I
8. The "War on Drugs"
9. Premature capitulation in Vietnam
10. Patriot Act
