So whilst working on a project I compiled some stats on just how much debt Americans are using. Thought you'd find the charts interesting and greatly depressing at the same time;
Yes, for the savings rate they don't include retirement plan contributions, but with household and consumer debt, I think you're confusing that with the funnery that the federal government has with government debt. Regardless, there is a definite trend upward in the amount of debt individual people have relative to the economy.
