Job Seekers Per Job

Further convincing me this will be the lost decade of the US, the number of people looking for jobs vs. actual jobs has reached a ratio of 6:1.

Of course you know without the stimulus and Obama that ratio would be 12:1 AND puppies would be dying in the street! So you just shut up about that stimulus not working.

While I have no doubt this recession's unemployment is more pernicious than the last, I suspect that wider use of the internet has increased the number of rounds fired downrange by job seekers.

BEFORE the bust, Google was getting 1800 job applications per day. I probably submitted a job app to them 20 times - for both different positions and the same positions which remained unfilled for a long period of time.

I was averaging four customized applications to different employers per day. Some people don't bother to customize and get 10 or more out per day.

Many companies have online profiles. You build them once, and can apply to new job openings at the touch of a few buttons.

I'll bet this ratio would be much lower if the illegals were sent packing.

Please don't be so harsh on Obama. I heard he was just awarded the Nobel Economics Prize for his tireless work in planning to fix the economy.

As an employer I refuse to hire anybody that tells me they "need a job". I hire people that want to work.
