Substituting pets for an actual human family and ACTUALLY BELIEVING IT TO BE YOUR REAL FAMILY is proof of mental illness and delusion. However, it is also a sign of somebody who is too lazy to put forth the effort to find a husband and raise children, yet has the ego and entitlement to have a "real family."
Yet, just because some companies placate your delusion to sell you "pet insurance" or pay you less as an employee, does not make your delusion real. The age of the Gen X Spinsterhood is upon us.

I often hear people say something like 'My dog is just like a child to me'. My usual reply is 'Oh yeah? Would you take bullet for your dog? No? Then it is NOT just like your child.'
As a soon to be 48 year old single man who never married and have children, I will fully concur that the dating market is cesspool as fuck. My "reward" for being debt free, fully paid off house and funding retirement accounts is that all the women my age either has a house full of kids (some of them are grannies now) or they have a house full of pets. I don't know which one is worse. I guess the woman who never had children, yet had a house full of pets does have the advantage that I am not expected to be replacement father to her "fur babies".

It's not just laziness, it's also a very large amount of the bloated self-pride, arrogance, and hypergamy, plus the outright refusal to consider any self-introspection that are 'part and parcel' of today's egocentric Western women. They've had 'empowerment' and 'special snowflake' propaganda blown up their as*es since they were born, so they now consider themselves 'above' any man just because they were born with a vagina.
It's hardly any wonder that 'Pride' was listed among the "Deadly Sins".
