Unfortunately (for them) they work so little hours compare to the US, they still produce less.
That being said, when they enforced the 35 hour work week, how could the French NOT become more productive? You still had to carry out a day's worth of work, but just with 1 hour less time.
Regardless, their standards of living did not increase relative to the US' since 1998 when the socialists came to power and enacted such stupidity.
