Poor Bush

Guess that's what happens when you try to be everything to everyone.

Then again, when you go to the web site, his links are to leftist blogs, but I'm inclined to believe the figures given the inaction of Bush.

Captain:

Isn't the "national savings rate" sort of misleading? From my view, one of the most important reasons that the US savings rate is so low is that we have very deep equity capital markets. Thus, households are investing in equities instead of building savings account cash balances. I wonder what our savings rate would look like if 401k contributions and other stock purchases were included.

Whose web site?

I beleive his ratings are low for 2 reasons:
1) Gas Prices are high (and we all know the President controls that along with Big Oil...)

2) He addressed Social Security and tried reforming it. (and we all know, you can't upset the spoiled brat hippies, because that would make you a "Nazi"...)

Derek, what post are you talking about.

Anon- Sorry, forgot to post it. It was like Mysterypoll.com I think.

Anon - I'll go with you on the price of gas. I tried to correlate GW's polls with the price of gas, but the poll #'s aren't frequent enough, nor is the gas price downloadable anywhere.

Huh. How about, his poll numbers are low because

(1) of his total mismanagement of a war and the sense he has no idea what the hell is going on (and this from a war supporter)

(2) of the asinine "Heckuva job, Brownie," suggesting he handles domestic policy the same as the war,

(3) the exact same thing with Social Security. I challenge the notion Bush tried to reform Social Security: bullshit. He said he wanted to do something about it and then put basically nothing on the table, leaving it to die in Congress. Again: same as Iraq: no focus, no policy.

(4) a sense of complete lack of control over his party, his staff, or even his own damn Cabinet.

(5) Just after the Brownie-cronyism flap, nominating _his own, underqualified, frickin' lawyer_ as a fer-real Supreme Court Justice (check out the dips in poll #s there and after Katrina): this was the step that actually convinced me -- and I had doubted it until then --- that Bush is a genuinely stupid man.

Bush is amazingly terrible and inadeuqate to his job; he won re-election because he was better than the idiots trying to unseat him. It ain't saying much.

Captain, I'm not talking about a specific post, I just was thinking about this and wanted you to pontificate on it
