Public vs. Private Sector Pay

That chart is misleading. That only counts salaries.

You also have to include benefits. You have to include pensions, health insurance, retired health insurance.

You forgot to mention earlier retirements - more pay, less work AND earlier retirements.

Yes, and the promotions to people the last 2 years so their retirement pay is raised. The promotions are given, whether they are qualified or not, because it's the way it has always been done for "friends" at work.

It's not just promotions in the last year or two of work. In MA, firefighter's pensions get a tax break if you retire disabled. Boston FD makes it a standard practice of retiring EVERY non-rank-and-file officer as disabled. During this "disabled" period they also make the lower-ranking people "acting" superiors to spike their pensions.
