On the other hand, US Customs and the Border Patrol are both hiring right now. Both of them pay journey salaries of $100k. All you need is a high school diploma and some grit (see USAjobs.gov for details). I'm 28 yrs. old, and coming up on 5 yrs in service. I own two cars, a Harley and am in the process of closing on my first house, all in cash. The opportunities are out there for those willing to do what it takes to make it.

Don't forget spending what little savings you had on engagement rings and fancy weddings. I think we GenXers were the first generation to get scammed into extravagant weddings, via Debeers and the wedding industry. Didn't help that we were beaten into submission by the lies of feminism. Previous generations, even the much maligned boomers, would've scoffed at the idea of spending two to three months salary on a ring and tens of thousands on "her special day."

The life of the average GenXer - especially male - has been a series of scams. So yes, no guilt or shame.
