Rantings and tirades of a frustrated economist.
I have two friends that I can count on, that I trust 100% Tier One friends. One is local, the other is in Florida (I'm on the Olympic Peninsula) That number hasn't changed overly much over the last 40 years. At one point it was 3 but we've slowly grown in different directions. Why? Becuase I hate spending my time with stupid people. There are two or three Tier 2 friends - people who will lend a hand when I ask, or that I'll help if they ask. I'll drop by and visit them and chat about whatever but we don't really hang out.Tier 3 aquaintances. People I'll hang with if we're in the same place. I know them by name and I'm generally happy to see them but I don't call them, I don't go visit them. None of them are idiots, although we may not see eye to eye on everything. Life is too short to waste on idiots.

Einstien was brillant; a wife and 9 mistresses as I recall. Just keeping track of all those birthdays, and the names of family memebers, and....
