It's starting to piss me off. Not the idiots damning me to ecological hell if I don't believe in global warming, I'm starting to talk about the weather this spring in Minnesota.
SNOW IN FREAKING MAY!!!!!
Oh, wait, I forgot, it's global "change."
I remember having a conversation with my buddy Chico who is on the opposite political spectrum as I;
Cpt. - "We can't get our motorcycles out to go riding because of this damn cold."
Chico - "Yeah, tell me about it."
Cpt. - "Global warming my ass."
Chico - "Dude, it is global warming!"
Cpt. - "What???"
Chico - "When the climate changes that's global warming. So if it gets colder it's global warming."
Cpt. - "Then why did they call it "global warming" instead of "climate change?"
Of course, no answer.

Well down here in Texas I dont think we had an entire week under 65 degrees during the entire winter (if you even want to call it that), which is abnormal. So from my limited personal perspective global warming is alive and true.
What is more valid?
ZOMG! 80 degrees in December!!! Global Warming!!
ZOMG Snow in May!!! No Global Warming!!
Neither are, actually.
My favorite global warming argument to give to people is that if Al Gore were to superimpose his two main graphs on his movie, where CO2 and Temps go up at about the same times throughout history, he'd prove himself wrong. On average, the CO2 levels go up about 500 years AFTER the temps go up! There's no argument against that, but everyone ignores it. Doesn't it seem like the argument's over after that?
I heard 2008 is supposed to be an unusually cold year, something that we haven't seen in the modern ages since the late 18th century. Of course, I'm not a climatologist so I have no idea what that means.
Cap,
The problem with the Global Warming crowd (the negawatts)is that they are statists and wish there to be no change. (That is why they claim, and most Americans believe, that income tax taxes wealth. It doesn't, it taxes productivity, property tax taxes wealth) We know from history that human existance improved every time there was a warming trend and that we had plagues, pestilence, famine, and war during cooling cycles. A million species will die in a warming trend but will be replaced by two million; during a cooling trend a million species will die but will be replaced with only half a million. The most adaptable will survive either event. I personally am for culling the human species. A little shrinkage of the gene pool will make us stronger.
Fishing Opener in Minnesota is a State Holiday. Don't ever plan a wedding or any event around Fishing Opener, Duck Opener, or Deer Opener - no one will show.
This year Fishing Opener comes May 10th, and the lakes up north are still frozen. The walleyes and northerns have not yet spawned. The DNR has closed some lakes this opener to allow spawning to occur.
Looks like I am bringing my ice auger and ice fishing gear for opener weekend this year!
I think the Governor might want to do the same!

Global Warming... hah!
It just snowed here in Utah, on May 1st. This is a desert for crying out loud.
Mrs. Bob
Haven't you heard? They've decided to put global warming on hold for a decade. It's a whole thing.

True. I thought we were under attack or something.
