Rantings and tirades of a frustrated economist.
I can't even look at Youtube now. I think much of the new generations will be the first in a while to grow up without white noise. Boomers and all later grew up with the, heh, booming always on throughout the house.
Pretty much everything that the media industry churns out is pure poison. I still watch what I regard as well-crafted shows (my particular poison are shows like Burn Notice, NCIS, and Game of Thrones) but never, ever just leave the thing on. Unless it's a Burn Notice or NCIS marathon...
TV on DVD, coupled with online streaming killed the need for TV.
I tell my children that there is _always_ something better to do than to watch television. Sure enough, we always come up with something better. The opportunity cost involved (not to mention the implicit invasion of horrible ideas) is tremendous!
