If you look at a map of the Canadian Rockies, you'll see near towns like Revelstoke and the like long lakes that were caused by dams. This not only makes for spectacular scenery, but also hands down, the BEST motorcycle riding. Had I known the curves of the road I would have filmed, but was on such a tight time schedule I really didn't have time to pull over and duct tape the camera. regardless, hope you like the lastest pictures. The second to last one is entering into the US in Washington state and the last picture is a forest fire I drove through in Montana.
Remember, work hard, pay taxes, stay in that corporate job and if you behave you might be rewarded with having only HALF of your 401k nationalized by the government!

What Did I Tell You About Working Security???
From our Security Guard Agent in the Field:
Mr. Clarey,
Patrick
I'll say it till the day I die:
"Security is security."
Carry on lieutenants!
Mr. Clarey,
I wanted to thank you for your
recommendation of night watchman as a stress free job opportunity that
offers plenty of time for personal growth. I secured a position as one
following your posts on the subject and it's been exactly as I
anticipated. I also have good reason believe I have delayed sleep phase
disorder, so in many ways it's been the best job I've ever had. Staying
up to 6 am is completely natural for me.
I've seen more
improvement in my abilities as a sketch artist and linguist than ever.
There are literally no responsibilities to the position aside from
touching a wand to a dot every hour. While it doesn't pay a living wage
precisely, I have made some good investments in the past and expect to
in the future.
Thanks,
I'll say it till the day I die:
"Security is security."
Carry on lieutenants!

Jasper/Hwy 93/Glaciers
I drove from Smithers to Hyder, AK to Prince George in one day. If you are too lazy to look that up it's about 650 miles and I got another 650 to go tomorrow. In the meantime here are pictures from 3 days ago I haven't had time to upload from my trek on hwy 93 in between Banff and Jasper. It was at that time the most pretty scenery I've seen, but then I saw hwy 37A enroute to Alaska and that has since changed.
Remember, Sergeant Rumpie Fluffalo says:
"Work hard, kiss ass, brown nose, buck for that promotion, and run ever so much faster in that rat race so you can pay more in taxes so that I and the Captain can enjoy the fine public roads, highways, infrastructure and national/state/provincial parks! Enjoy the Decline!"

The Drumheller Fossil Hunt
So it turns out one of our agents in the field is an actual geologist with a passion for fossil hunting. Me and Mr. Aurini decided to head out with the Official Cappy Cap Geologist to Drumheller, Alberta. There we found not only the BEST collection of fossils in the world, but some badlands formations where we launched our very own fossil hunting expedition.
It was somewhat successful with some petrified wood discovered as well as some shells and fragments, however I strongly recommend visiting the Tyrrell Museum.

Monday Morning Quarter Backing Is Trolling
I'll be brief and blunt because I'm riding to Alaska on a motorcycle, have to maximize daylight and plain don't have the patience.
I have written pieces in the past that, though about women, were NOT about trying to date them or bed them.
However, because they WERE about women, the "Monday Morning Quarterbackers" come out of the wood work and start critiquing game, telling me what I should have done, etc. etc., when the whole point of the post was NOT about gaming a girl, but something else.
For example, this post here at ROK.
Though I am very grateful to have it posted and read by many, the comment section completely misses the forest from the trees and immediately goes into "post game analysis show."
Thus I call BS.
In not being able to accept, realize, and appreciate the point I was trying to make, and IMMEDIATELY go into a "post game show analysis" on how "I failed to ignore them" or "how I didn't do X or Y," it only further convinces me that the manosphere is honeycombed with wanna be's, keyboard jockeys, and "manosphere academians" who have no front line, real world, experience and merely wish to study it from the safety of the anonymous internet.
They never approached a girl.
They never got shot down.
They never failed.
And consequently they have never succeeded.
Instead, they abuse the Manosphere and its composite sites as a mental treatment to vent, yell, scream, and then rationalize. But they either lack the means, ability or will to actually take the advice, wisdom and/or observations of it and thus become talkers, not walkers.
Understand the Manosphere and the stories, data, anecdotes, etc., is not an academic study to be theorized about. It's not a liberal arts program. It's not a Philosophy PhD department. It's not a women's studies shelter.
It is a practical trade school giving you tools. Tools that have been forged by other mens' experiences.
If you wish to take these observations, tools, wisdom, etc., to improve your life, great. But if you wish to sit in school for the rest of your days, become a theoretician and never apply these practical lessons and bytes of wisdom we're giving you, and instead use it to explain, but never correct your failures, then admit you're a coward, a troll, a professor. An academian who can't do, but will only teach and critique.
I do NOT want any readers making any comments on ROK. I linked to it as it was only empirical evidence. We will NOT annoy or start a troll war over there. My thanks in advances. Just wanted to point it out.

Mutually Beneficial Plagiarism
I'm currently in Prince George, BC. Only 8 hours away from Alaska. Saw the most gorgeous scenery in my life, and no, I'm not being hyperbolic. It was the most beautiful scenery I've seen in my life.
Unfortunately, to make it to Alaska and back on a dutiful time table, I had to push my bike and myself for 14 hours of riding. Ergo, I'm going to plagiarize.
Ed points out, once again, just how biased, racist, politically motivated and (frankly) evil the MSM is.
Kate has some OUTSTANDING photos of Saskatchewan after a storm I missed by a day.
Yes, it has been 25 years since Die Hard came out and was pretty much the last real manly hero men in western civilization to serve as a role model.
I have not addressed the Zimmerman/Travon case much because I am neither hispanic or black...despite the leftist media's best efforts.

Smithers, Prince George, Jasper, and Revelstoke
Howdy Canadian Lieutenants!
I'm starting the second leg of my journey and am seeing if anybody is in the aforementioned towns (or towns in that general area). I'm essentially heading to Hyder Alaska and then drop south towards Kamloops/Revelstoke and then into Idaho. Love to grab a beer or something stronger.
Let the ole Captain know if you're in the area.

Anger is a Good Thing
One of the things the left is trying to beat out of people is "hatred" and "anger."
The reason why is that those inevitably lead to something they truly fear - revenge.
Hatred, anger, and revenge, however are not inherently "bad." They are neutral, they are facts of life, they are darwinistic responses that are necessary to extend one's life and protect one's family and friends.
But the political attempt to villainize hate, is just that - a political move. It has an ulterior motive and that is to prevent or moot people's desire and incentives for revenge, even self-respect.
Therefore, when you see hate, don't immediately default to accusing the person of being a "hater." Ask first why they might hate. You might be surprised that there are good reasons.

Off to Alaska
Leaving this morning in about 20 minutes.
Blogging will of course be limited as blogging from a motorcycle is problematic.
Again, if you're in the Canadian Rockies area, let the old Captain know.
Also if anybody lives in Smithers or Smith, BC, a couch would help out TREMENDOUSLY from a logistical standpoint.
And yes, I did pack my Iron Man pajamas in case I have to camp in the cold.

You Assume People Have Jobs
I like watching the discussion on interest rates because it is somewhat moot when nobody has jobs and younger people are saddled with student debts. I also find it an academic discussion because banks will only loan to picture perfect people with real jobs and none of you self-employed types or those of you who want to buy rental property. You must fit into the slot the government has made and if you don't, well then those interest rates may as well be 0%.
Remember kids, home ownership and the American dream isn't for you. It's only for older people and good little corporate cogs who did what they were told.

An Interview and a Podcast
The podcast is out. Topic includes how sad it is that young boys and men have to consult the internet for fatherly advice. Also, Lutherans and ham sandwiches, how Aaron got hit on by a guy in South Dakota, and more! Horrible audio quality, my apologies.
Also had an interview done by AVFM last night. Located here.
Should be plenty of MP3's there for your MP3 player when you go running today!

You Should NEVER Have to Game Friends
Permit me two stories.
About three years ago I was teaching a salsa dance class in Mankato, Minnesota. The dance scene had gone from a bustling marketplace of 20 something hotties, desperate to learn the art ofgetting attention on a dance floor "ballroom dancing,"
to a sad shell of its former self. The 20 somethings left to start
families, and now certainly in their 30's, their children prevented them
from such luxuries as taking dance classes. Instead my dance classes
were now full of recent 50 something divorcees thinking they were going
to find a "Latin lover" if they and their 200 pound ass just learned a
little salsa dancing. It had gotten so bad that sometimes I couldn't
teach dips because many women were literally too heavy to dip and the
dwindling number of men that remained would injure themselves if they
dared try. And so instead of being excited to start a new class, the
previous decade of decline in the beauty of my students had taught me
not to get excited and treat what was once my passion like a job I no
longer cared about.
Then she walked in.
"She" being the second most beautiful girl I ever had in my then 13 years of dance classes. Tall, model-esque, and a face that was the epitome of beauty.
I was about to pigeon-hole her as just another self-absorbed attention queen, and play the appropriate game, until we had a drink after class and was shocked. She was a sergeant in the US Army, fresh from Iraq. She was a communications specialist, worked a real job, and had the misfortune of losing her mother early on in life. She was not spoiled, but rather had suffered a harsher than average life, and thus was a rather impressive person.
Normally, at this point, one's mind might default to "wow, this might be the one," but there was just one problem.
Though stunningly beautiful, there was just no physical chemistry between her and me.
I KNEW she was attractive, my brain corroborating what my eyes saw, but oddly enough I just really couldn't get it up for her. She was one of those rare "hot chicks" that everybody else would want to nail, just not you.
However, while the physical chemistry was just not there, the personality was. So much so that you would almost consider this person to be a soul brother/sister. Her experiences in life shaped her into an interesting person and also gave her the street smarts needed to just do things on an automated and unconscious level. She intuitively knew what you were saying, knew what you were doing, and would support you without thinking twice. She was observant and clever, making her a great wingman. I was convinced that though I would not be dating this girl, I would have a cool tomboy of a chick to hang out with and thus started inviting her to hang out with my crew.
Then, something interesting occurred.
While she was desperate to go and resurrect her social life after Iraq, pretty much every invitation I gave her went unanswered. I'd say, "Hey, we're going to a jazz club. Give you a chance to get out of uniform and dress like a girl for once." She'd respond enthusiastically, only never to show. I'd say, "Hey, we're going salsa dancing later tonight," only to get a response back the next day that she had to work. I'd say, "Hey, bunch of us are going for a motorcycle ride, we're coming through your town, you want us to pick you up?"
Nothing again.
It soon got to the point that she so infrequently attended that I just stopped inviting her. However, I could never reconcile why we got along so great and why she expressed such an interest in doing things (to the point it sounded like she was "dying" to get out), only never to capitalize on my offers.
The next story is one set in Sheridan, Wyoming.
There I was working at a local bank, sifting through loans we made to local meth addicts, trailer trash, single moms, and degenerates who couldn't run a sports bar effectively. I was fortunate enough to live downtown, which meant I could walk to work, not to mention, four bars were literally within one block of my apartment (one literally under it).
Because of my proximity to bars, my social life received a significant boost. I would hit every bar, every night, and even taught dance classes at the largest bar in town on Tuesdays. Also because of the relatively small size of the town I became one of the "regulars" overnight, me knowing everybody and everybody knowing me.
Unfortunately, since this town was in Wyoming most of the local women were hideous. This is not my opinion. It's just a fact. Women in Wyoming just aren't pretty. They're overweight, they smoke and drink too much, aging their faces prematurely, they get pregnant before they graduate from high school, and they certainly don't care to doll themselves up. They rarely wear dresses. They never wear heels. And no amount of make-up can save them, so they don't even bother. Wyoming literally is just one big, square trailer park and their women represent this fact.
So imagine my surprise when a
buxom,
drop-dead gorgeous blond in
6 inch cherry red heels and a
matching red cleavage-dropping dress
walked into the bar.
It didn't make sense. The needle went off the record. Men's jaws hit the floor and women sneered. NEVER had such a hot woman ever walked through those doors, let alone set foot inside Buffalo, Wyoming.
My instinct kicked in and I stopped looking, ensuring to be the only guy ignoring her. And sure enough she sat next to me and started talking to me.
But just like the beautiful sergeant from Mankato, her looks were deceiving.
She wasn't a ditzy broad, looking for free drinks. Turned out she worked at a rather prestigious ranch outside of town and this was her one night off that week. She never had the opportunity to dress up and had been wanting to wear this little red number for quite some time. And so she was going to wear it, consequences be damned.
She was also incredibly smart and incredibly different. She had traveled to Russia to purchase a unique breed of horse and start breeding them here in the states. She was also very well read on philosophy and could challenge my thinking and make me think of new ideas I had never pondered before. And add to it again, she was a tomboy. She liked not only ranching, lassoing, and riding horses, but 4 wheelers, motorcycles, hiking, fishing and amateur paleontology and archeology.
I was happy for there were very few people in Wyoming I could talk to, let alone be intellectually stimulated by. And because of the rapport we had established it was in my mind a foregone conclusion we would be friends. She invited me out to her ranch where she said she'd cook me dinner and then we could go fishing, hiking, arrowhead hunting, or whatever we wanted. She gave me her number and given how few intelligent and in shape people there were in Wyoming, I promised not to ruin this gem of a find by trying to hit on her or making any advances.
A couple days later I headed out to her ranch where she gave me a tour. We drove a 4 wheeler around, saw some amazing mountains, cliffs and a picturesque stream filled with trout. She showed me the horses (not a big fan) and then she showed me some old buildings that were there during the pioneer days. It was a good ole time, but she had to wake up early the next morning to work on the ranch, and so I headed back. But before I did she gave me a large arrowhead piece. Too large to be an actual arrowhead, but rather was obviously a tool of some kind. Regardless, it was such a nice piece I would have considered it museum-quality and was consequently thankful and humbled for such a gift. It also made me think she was a kindred spirit and further confirmed I had made a friend.
I was thinking since she could really only take off on weekends that we might climb this mountain I had scoped out the week before. Didn't want to see too rushing, so waited a couple days and left her a voice-mail. She was so far from town, however, that I knew she didn't have reception on the ranch. She had to drive to the state highway every night to get her voice-mails, so I figured she'd call back when she had the time.
Wednesday passed, then Thursday, then Friday and unfortunately, she never called.
No matter, I figured, probably busy. The ranch was quite the operation. I'll catch her next week.
I then walked down to one of the rowdier bars in town and surprise! There she was.
Red dress
Red heels
Drunk as all hell
She saw me and immediately lit up "Cappy!!!! Hi!!!!"
"Hi," I said kind of surprised to see her bombed. I said in a jesting manner, "So I take it we're not going hiking tomorrow?"
"Nooo, I'm sorrrry, I forgot to call you. We can go hiking next week. I just needed to get out and let lose."
Suspiciously understanding, I said, "Well, you're sure making a go of it now!"
We continued to hang out, but unlike the first night we met and the day we had at her ranch, she was now flirting with pretty much every guy at the bar. There was no conversation and she was now dancing on the floor to hip hop music spilling beer. I decided to leave her at the bar and check out the one next door. Sure enough within an hour she followed.
"Why did you leaaave!??? I need you to protect me from this guy," she said somewhat slurred.
"What guy?" I asked.
"This guy, he keeps hitting on me."
I saw no guy.
Realizing she probably had a few too many I offered her a place to crash at my joint. She refused and instead decided to hit the remaining two bars, while I believe I had enough for the evening and walked home.
The next morning I saw her car parked downtown. I found that odd. So I walked into the bar beneath my apartment and inquired (I learned that in small towns in Wyoming bartenders proved a better source for information than the internet, and yes, bars are open that early in Wyoming).
"Oh yeah, Amy!? Yeah, good ole Amy. She got ripped. Ended up going home with a bunch of Italian tourists last night. Bit of a drama queen that one."
"Heh," I said, "she does this much?"
"Yeah, she'll come to town, get drunk, lead guys on, piss off their girlfriends, lead on the tourists. Provides for some decent entertainment."
And certainly it did, for it wasn't just that one night Amy came to town, but at least three more nights before I left for Minneapolis. I made a token few handful of calls to see if Amy wanted to go hiking, but none, of course, were ever returned.
Last I saw her she was drunk at a bar scoring drinks out of a guy nearly thrice her age.
Now the moral of these stories is not one of entertainment value or living vicariously through the life of the ole Captain. But rather to prepare you for the likely event that in your 80 years of life expectancy you will run into a girl who is:
1. Gorgeous and
2. Has such a unique personality or spirit about her it practically compels you to be friends with her, but
3. For some reason you just aren't physically attracted to her
You will be excited. You will be happy. You will think, "Wow, you know, I just REALLY dig this person for herself and it would be totally cool to just go and hang out with her." But you will be let down, because the friendship you assume is a guarantee will never come to fruition. And the reason why is that her beauty prevents it.
Understand absolutely drop-dead gorgeous women are damaged goods in a certain regard. It isn't even necessarily their fault, but rather society's. Since they are so good looking, the vast majority of men interact with them on a sexual basis. They want to have sex with them, they want to be around them, they simply want to look at them. Sadly, none of them want to be their friends and therefore truly beautiful women have few, if any, platonic or non-sexual relationships with men. This skews their experience and mental development so far to the point that by the time they're 20, maybe 22, they're INCAPABLE of having normal, healthy, non-sexual friendships with males.
99.9% of the time, this is fine because 99.9% of the time men are physically attracted to such women and aren't interested in friendship. However, for the remaining .1% of men who just don't find that particular woman physically attractive, OR value a friendship more than a sexual relationship, you throw the girl for a loop. You "do not compute." Making matters worse, is that some of these women ARE genuinely interesting and intellectually-engaging people which draw you in on a platonic level. But since these women never had male friends, and thus, don't know how to interact with you, they assume you are just like every one else. You're hitting on them, you want to nail them, you're only interested in sex, and thus the games continue.
This will throw you off because (for once) you REALLY don't want to have sex with this woman! You will be approaching her in (GASP!) an honest and friendly way! And so when you say,
"Hey, let's go hiking this weekend."
You're not saying
"Hey, let me feign like I'm interested in hiking so I can get into your pants."
You're really, actually saying,
"Hey, let's go hiking this weekend."
But she doesn't know that. Matter of fact, her mind and psychology has been so predispositioned by how society interacts with her, she is incapable of knowing that. And therefore, no matter how cool a chick, no matter how much you jive on a certain level, and no matter how much you may enjoy each others company, don't get too excited about making a new friend. Because she is going to default to her sociological programming. She will play mind games. She will assume you want her. She will flake out. She will be the drama queen. She will be just another drop-dead gorgeous girl.
The sad thing, however, is not that you won't realize a true and great friendship with these women. That was fated never to happen anyway. What's really sad is you see a very interesting, engaging, unique person with incredible potential let society and their beauty dictate how they behave and what they'll inevitably become. For while you'll see the potential for a brilliant, intelligent woman, with various hobbies and interests, who would make a great wife or mother, and make a family incredibly happy, or have some amazing career, or just be one hell of a friend, unfortunately she'll choose to be just another piece of T&A at the bar.
Enjoy the decline!

Hyder, Alaska Bizatches!
So I was going to do the Canadian Rockies on this upcoming trip.
Then my economic spidey senses started tingling.
"Look, Cappy, if you're going all the way to Prince George, then you may as well see if you can't make it to Alaska."
Never been there. Alaska is one of those places like "Burma" or "France" that you'll never see or visit in your lifetime. At least not on a bike. But after an hour of searching on teh interwhebz I found the ONE town that is on a paved road that does not require I go to the Arctic Circle or take a slow-ass ferry.
Hyder, Alaska.
There is literally nothing there except bragging rights that I drove there and I can see some American border guards welcoming me "back home" though home would be the complete opposite direction.
Regardless, I'm still doing the Canadian Rockies and will come through Kampaloos and the like, but I will be driving a bike to Alaska. Which as far as I'm concerned puts me on par with Wolverine because he is well, you know, Canadian, drives a motorcycle and hails from the area. Only difference is I'm just better looking that Hugh Jackman.

The Manosphere as a Subsitute for a Father
A well-thought out, though crass, podcast that addresses the issue of how young boys today have to resort to the internet for advice and guidance on being and becoming men. Other topics as well, but that was the main one.
The archive for the podcast is located here. Yes, I have a podcast. Yes, as indicated by the image off to your right.
Fair warning, the quality is off. But the content is very good.

Again, I Ask, Where Is the Feminist Equivalent of This?
From ROK:
This question is in reference to the work you’ve done yourself. How well groomed are you? How engaging are you in conversation? Are you funny, witty, and confident enough when engaging the women you want? Do you dress well enough to catch their eye? Are you physically fit enough to catch their eye?
I know I just wrote about this, but it is a point worth reiterating.
For all the accusations of "misogyny" and "sexism" men in the Manosphere sure are critical of themselves and awfully considerate and aware of what women want. They are willing to admit they have flaws or that there is room for improvement. Additionally, men are willing to expend the effort, time and sweat into changing themselves for the better. Naturally this is not purely altruistic as the larger goal is in part to attract a woman, but it is certainly the opposite of what goes for standard gospel in the feministsphere - "the world must bend to my desires and if not then screw society, and oh, btw, you're all sexist."
Notice the men of the Manosphere do NOT try to force society to their will. They do NOT try to undo nature. They ask "What is reality?" and then change their actions, strategies and behaviors to accommodate and benefit from these realities. Feminism is, quite frankly, delusional with a belt of selfish on top of it. To think that an entire half of society is going to undo their genetic programming and fight their hard-wired nature AND to call them names on top of it if they don't? I'm no psychologist but I'm sure there are multiple psychoses infecting such a person with such a deluded perception of reality and oneself.
It's a really simple solution, so simple it's basically a variant of the golden rule - treat others as you would like to be treated.
Well, I would like women to stay in shape, carry their own weight, be interesting, be civil and courteous and dress appropriately. Therefore in return I pretty much do the same. It is whether women realize this basic mutually advantageous relationship with one another and capitalize off of it, or scream "sexist" or "misogynist" because men dare to hold women up to standards before spending their time on them.

Why Scarcity is a Good Thing
The sworn enemy of economists is not debt, as you may presume. It's scarcity.
The reason why is that if you eliminated "scarcity" you would have unlimited "wealth," solving all of the economic problems of the world.
However, terms like "scarcity" and "wealth" have very specific meanings to economists and when compared to the meanings associated with them by normal people, there is some miscommunication.
"Scarcity" means that there is only a limited amount of the stuff. Technically, everything is scarce. There is a limited amount of dirt. There is a limited amount of rocks. However, when it gets to things like oil, gold, iron ore, etc. things become a little more scarce. Because of this people must be efficient, they must be "economic" in their decisions on how to use these scarce resources to get "the most" out of them.
Get the most what?
Get the most "wealth."
"Wealth" though commonly assumed to be money or income, is quite different in economic terms. "Wealth" is simply "stuff." Your cars, your food, your house, every item and asset you own. The reason why economists are so focused on "wealth" and not "money" is because it is not so much the MONEY that matters to people as much as it is the physical items and services. In short you don't get a benefit from a $20 bill. You can't eat the $20 bill. That money is technically not wealth. The $20 in groceries it can buy, however, is. Because those groceries will help maintain and improve your life.
Therefore, in an ideal world (say like Star Trek where they have a replicator), resources would not be scarce, but limitless. If you had unlimited oil or unlimited diamonds or unlimited chocolate, everybody's "wealth" would increase to a maximum level at minimal cost. Standards of living would be unlimited and the only thing that would limit your life would be your mortality. Ironically, in such a world, economists would be unemployed because there would be no need for them.
Of course, a scarceless, unlimited wealthy world is not feasible. There is a limit to everything, not only including physical resources, but human time as well. But there ARE instances of unlimited wealth and while economists may think that is the ideal situation or "goal" of economics, they may want to rethink such an infinitely wealthy world.
Understand there are instances of unlimited wealth. I've seen it first hand. And it was when one of the Saudi princes came to the Mayo Clinic.
My buddy ran the security company that was hired to provide the prince protection. He flew in with an entourage of about 120 people, 90 of which were support staff, servants, cooks and maids. he flew in his own private airliner and was so wealthy he had rented EVERY 2010 Mercedes S Class in the UNITED STATES that was rentable (it was 2009 and he would ONLY settle for the newest cars) to transport him and his family (chauffeurs were driving from California and NYC). There were also trucks lined up at the airport that would be used to transport all the items he and his entourage would purchase at the Mall of America and other places. And he had rented out two entire floors of the Kahler Hotel in downtown Rochester.
He and his family had unlimited wealth.
But what transpired afterwards was something that I couldn't put my finger on, but after reflecting upon figured out what was going on.
He and his family would buy ANYTHING.
And by ANYTHING I meant ANYTHING.
One of his three wives bought a large commercial sized crate of hand lotion at Wal-Mart. Another wife would buy clothes at Nordstroms. One of his daughters left the convoy and her protection for a slice of pizza at Pizza Hut, only to take one bite and throw it away. Top of the line German cars were purchased, as was jewelry. Though one of the princesses insisted on having her hair cut at a cheap salon.
There was no rhyme or reason to their purchases. They didn't buy "only the best" as evidenced by their trip to Wal-Mart. They didn't buy stuff they needed as evidenced by the crate of hand sanitizer. They didn't buy stuff they were going to use (one of the wives bought three truckloads of crap she could never ever wear/consume in her life time). And they didn't buy stuff for a purpose (tools, medicine, entertainment).
They just bought stuff for the sake of buying.
And then I saw what was going on.
With literally unlimited wealth the Saudi prince and his family were unable to assess VALUE. Their entire lives they could afford anything they wanted. There is more than one story of a Saudi prince buying a brand new Mercedes, having NO CLUE it runs on this thing called "gas," runs out of gas in the middle of the desert, and abandons the car there. He would simply get picked up, returned to the castle and buy another one. The reason why is that with unlimited wealth that Mercedes might as well cost as much as a piece of chewing gum because to the Saudi prince, it does. $100,000 vs. $1 is an inconsequential difference to a man with $10 billion.
But while you and many economists may wish to be so wealthy, think again, for there is a consequence.
What would your life be without the ability to judge VALUE?
You take this ability for granted. You, me and most normal people have to assess, judge, discern and discriminate how we spend our resources. We have to compare whether or not the outlay in terms of time, money or resources is worth the item or service we purchase. And not only in our purchasing lives, but our social lives as well.
Do you spend time with that annoying friend or the couple who can't keep their loud obnoxious kids in line?
Do you spend the time getting that Masters in Quadrapalegic Turtle Art History Transgender Studies?
Do you go on a date with Tami the Suburbanite Bimbo Brat or have a scotch and cigar with your buddies?
But if we had unlimited funds and essentially our entire free time to ourselves, how would you be able to discern which is better? You didn't have to part with a piece of your finite life to get the money or the day off to enjoy a purchase or social time with friends. And since you didn't have to forfeit anything in exchange for money or free time, you don't value it. Your time and life is essentially worthless and you will spend it accordingly so.
This is why the Saudis not only piss away their money in the most random and chaotic fashion, but why they also were never smiling. They were grumpy, I never saw one smile, they were miserable. I would even consider them zombie-like when you'd see them going to and fro in the world's most expensive cars to go places their subjects could only DREAM of going and would be ecstatic in doing so. And also imagine how impaired their ability is to judge human value. Do you think any one of the score of princesses has a good friend to talk to? Do you think the princess has ever endured hardship and strife or just a plain challenge that would have developed character and a personality? Or do they just have legions of servants, maids and yes-men taking advantage of them for their wealth? Heck, one could make a very good claim the Saudi royalty is inoculated against love because they aren't capable of it and nobody would love such boring, mindless, money-spending automatons.
In short having unlimited wealth would be nothing less than sustaining an injury that would cause you to lose one of your senses. You become blind, you become deaf, or you become paralyzed. You can no longer "sense" value and therefore can no longer make wise decisions on how best to spend your life. Worse still you lose your ability to determine what is important in life.
Fortunately, however, for you and me and most everybody else, we were brought up poor or certainly not "billionaires." We've had to discern and judge value. We've had to work for we got. We've had to suffer and sacrifice, and thusly attach a value to our time. Consequently we have richer lives than any Saudi king will ever have.

Stay Frosty, Boys
There ARE some women out there who will trick you into getting them pregnant.
When I was younger I thought it so wrong, deceitful and evil that only a very small minority of psycho-paths would do such a thing. It is more common than you think.
Stay frosty, boys! Stay the freak frosty.

The Death of HR
Good news everyone!
Inefficient systems, in the ideal economic world, are replaced by efficient ones.
For example bike couriers were replaced with e-mail attachments that made large paper documents they'd normally deliver (blueprints, legal documents, etc).
Horses were replaced by mass-produced cars from Henry Ford.
And land line phones were replaced by cell phones...unless you're my parents.
But for the life of me I could never understand why such a dysfunctional and damaging system or (COUGH COUGH WHEEZE WHEEZE )"profession" like HR has lingered as long as it has. Heck, aside from affirmative action, I can't imagine why it got started in the first place.
Well rejoice Cappy Cappites, for the free market has come up with a way to circumvent those math-hating, subjective judging, mindless ditzes in the HR department. Apparently those wonderful men and women in HR have such a bad PR problem it's driven an entrepreneurial type to set up a labor market outside the traditional HR dominated one.
Want to find an employee? Go here.
Want to find a qualified worker? Go here.
Want to find a company that's professional and smart enough NOT to have an HR department, signifying their hiring managers are serious about recruiting the talent they need? Go here.
It almost, ALMOST, makes me want to start applying for jobs again, but, eh, that would mean I'd have to work and pay taxes.

Men Improve, Feminists Excuse
There had been something gnawing at the back of my head regarding this post from a feminist/"college health educator," advocating that your obesity was not your fault. It finally dawned on me in the shower;
Men look to improve themselves, correct the error of their ways, and become better people.
Feminists look for excuses for their continued gluttonous and slothful behavior.
Politics, economics and sociology aside, if you look at the Manosphere vs. the "feminist-sphere" the Manosphere has an entire section dedicated towards health, working out, eating right, and self-improvement. Heck, we even have entire blogs dedicated towards working out and health.
Feminists do not.
Matter of fact they perform the most insane mental acrobatics I've ever seen in intellectual dishonesty, lying to themselves, and rationalization. Going so far as to blame society for daring to having values, standards and the audacity to judge.
I've meandered into this rabbit hole before, and I theorize that it is laziness that drives this. It takes less effort to use words and concoct weak mental rationalizations than it does to commit to a life-long part time job of physical self-improvement. I've also theorized in the past this is why leftistism and feminism usually go hand in hand. Lazy people (feminist or not) LOATHE and FEAR
work
effort
tenacity
drive
competition
performance and
judgement
It explains why they're not only physically unappealing, but usually rely on government subsidy for their livelihood, job or profession (for example academia, the non-profits that receive government grants, women's studies departments at public universities and their constant political demands to have the state replacement the husband as the main financial provider).
Regardless, the end result are two philosophies that are starkly different and shows which group is truly more moral, selfless and altruistic - the men.
Men could, we COULD, just sit on our asses and complain all day. And many men do. But isn't it funny, that the most "extreme," "radical" and (guaranteed-to-be-accused-of) misogynistic fringe of the male world in the form of the Manosphere constantly beats it into the heads of its readers that to impress and make women happy they have to hit the gym, work hard and dedicate their lives towards self improvement? Yes there is a element you do such things for yourself, but in the end, don't fool yourself, it's primarily for the women and the theoretical children you might have some day.
I ask, where is the feminist equivalent?
Even those mindless women's magazine you can pick up at the grocery store have articles and sections about maintaining health and beauty! But no, not the group that claims to be first and foremost for the benefit of women. No, they much prefer to bury their heads in the sand, ignore reality, even try to villainize it, and sit and pontificate from their offices in academia new and creative rationalizations as to why they're wasting their one shot at life.
In the end, as an economist, I don't care. There is ALWAYS equilibrium. Every decision has a commensurate consequence and it will all balance out in the end. Because no matter how much feminists hate work, discipline, and competition, and no matter to what lengths they go to rationalize those things away, in the end (and by end, I mean their death bed) they will have to face the fact had they spent a fraction of the time self-improving, working out or working hard as they did concocting excuses, their lives would have been immeasurably better.
But who am I to get in the way of obese, miserable and hate-filled people?

Professors are the New Banksters
The parallels between the bankers that caused the housing bubble and the professors/administrators causing the education bubble are uncanny.

The Fat Rationalization Hamster
Spin baby, spin!
Update - from our Swedish Agent in the Field. Apparently the author is a COLLEGE HEALTH EDUCATOR. Yes, that's who I want in charge of a college's health education program, a woman who doesn't believe in discipline and self-control...though, now I have to ask...why does a college need a health educator? And you dumb kids and leftists wonder why tuition is sky high. Idiots, freaking idiots.

For the Patron Saint's Name of Frick
So it isn't "free" tuition when you essentially are having your wages garnished, is it?
It's more like "indentured servitude" or "slavery" or "the state parasiting off of you and adding another 3% income tax."
Honest to god, at any time you dumb, young kids can starve the beast by not attending and getting votech degrees.
Somebody buy the entire state of Oregon copies of Worthless.
By the way, what is 3% on a barrista's part time annual income?

I Will Not See the Lone Ranger
From our agent in the field:
"In one of the busier scenes in Gore Verbinski's very busy The Lone Ranger, dozens if not hundreds of Comanche tribesmen are brutally gunned down by a machine-gun-armed U.S. Cavalry. This sad and ugly violence — employed to represent the larger cultural annihilation being waged throughout the American West in the bloody era of Manifest Destiny — is intercut with shots of Johnny Depp, at the moment dressed up like a Chinese rail worker but face still covered in warpaint, furiously pumping a railway handcar with a blindfolded Armie Hammer as his passenger. Tonto and the Lone Ranger's wacky, madcap getaway complete, we are then allowed a somber moment to pause and reflect on the terrible bloodshed to which we were just subjected."
I said it before, and I'll say it again, I'm sick and tired of being lectured by leftists and race whores blaming me and trying to shame me for things I didn't do. And I'm not going to pay them or give them my money. Sure, I'll watch a pirated copy. Sure, I'll watch it if somebody else watches it, but unlike every Eloi, SWPL who will just brush it off and see it anyway, heck, even blame themselves a little believing in BS like "white privilege," I'm not going to part with a portion of my finite life in the form of my money to get lectured.
And just like we took roughly $100,000 away from Big Education recently, I suggest the roughly 10,000 readers take their $10 each and not give it to Hollywood.

The Dysfunctional Labor Market
If there's one "surprise" benefit I wasn't expecting when I clocked out and started to enjoy the decline, it was the sheer amount of effort, time, and resources I saved by never having to apply for a job again. And not just the chronological time, but also the fact I don't have to deal with the bi-polar, passive-aggressive, psychotic traits of the labor market.
For example, I met a guy at the Liberty Mastermind Symposium who works at Miles Franklin, a precious metals dealer. He realized I had advertising potential. I realized his product was aligned with my audience and in what was no more than a 1 minute conversation, we had already concluded business and are likely to start setting them up as an advertiser.
Another example, Ed over at Ranger Self Defense. For him and me to conduct business took all of two e-mails. Him asking me to put ads on my site and me saying "sure."
Contrast this with negotiating for employment with a modern day employer.
First there's the "initial call."
Then the screening interview.
Then the 3 weeks that go by when they said they'd get back to you in 1.
Then you give up.
A month later they call for a second screening interview.
Then set a time for a phone interview with the hiring manager next week.
Oops, can we make it the week after.
Then another 2 weeks.
Then the in person interview.
Then the "panel" interview.
And when it's all said and done you've spent the equivalent of 3 weeks of full time work dealing with these inefficient, private-sector bureaucratic, morons only not to get the job.
The latest bank I worked at was so inefficient, that it took them 3 months to finally get around to making a decision. I remember them setting up their 4th phone interview during which I purposely ensured to be drinking a martini when they called because of all their dicking around.
Regardless, this article highlights and outlines how the situation is not improving. So much so that it's just more straws on the camel's back to abandon "traditional" employment. And I believe it has gotten to that point, especially for impatient and standard-holding people such as myself. And you must understand how powerful a statement that is.
It is EASIER for you to just not go to college, pick up a skill or a trade, and start a business from scratch
than it is to
go to college, rely on the economies to scale of the traditional labor market, spend all the time sending out resumes, etc. etc.
In otherwords, the system has become so corrupted, so dysfunctional it is no longer efficient. A 19 year old sole proprietor stands a higher chance at making more money eeking out some niche or morsel of a market than he/she does wasting their lives and sanity dealing with the HR ditzes, progressive credentialism, compliance, 4 hour meetings, and sociopathic bosses that plague corporate America. You stand a better shot at being a freaking blogger than becoming a "valued employee" as an accountant at a Fortune 500 company.
So you all go to college. You all go to those "networking events." You all force yourself to act interested as the recruited comes to school to promise one of the 600 of you a job. You get your bachelors, then masters, the CPE certifications. Oh, and by god, you enjoy that commute. The rest of us are going to the internet, meeting up with people who don't have time for corporate schmoozing bullshit, want to get the shit done, and make some money. Our system may not be as glorious, but we'll be the ones waking up at 10AM and pulling down the real money and not having to talk to a therapist because of the psychotic mental environment of modern day corporate employers.

Resource Warfare from the Terrorists
The military switched from larger caliber bullets (30-06) to smaller caliber (.223) because they found larger caliber bullets tend to kill the intended recipient. That would take one soldier off the field. However, if you wounded one, it would potentially take three - the wounded soldier and two more soldiers to remove him from the field and save his life (and I swear to god, if any of you people come in and anal-rententively correct me on a technicality I'll murder your cats).
The same tactic is being employed here. The enemies of western civilization are not so much concerned about killing targets one at a time as much as they are resource consumption. THis scum bucket has consumed, in terms of time, more than just one Brit's life and thus caused more damage.
Of course, if Britons wanted to grow a spine and just start throwing/killing scum like him out, they could. But that wouldn't be polite and the lefties would scream bloody murder. Plus it would require self-respect and an appreciation for western civilization.

The Ineffectiveness of Nagging
Really, no kidding? You don't say!
I distinctly remember a woman (who shall go unnamed) tell me
"Yeah, I used to nag, but it doesn't work."
Which told me
"OK, so you women KNOW what you are doing when you nag and it isn't just some 'thing women do unconsciously?!"
I think a new slogan for a PSA announcement might work -
"Nagging - It Gives You Permission to Cheat on Your Wife! THe More You Know!"
Methinks that would bring an abrupt end to nagging.

From Our Father Agent in the Field
Dear Cappy Cap,
My 14-year-old son had been talking of working in IT, which sounded like a decent plan to me. Somebody in India or China can't come in and fix your dead computer, or get the network switch installed down the hall. He's a kid who set up Linux on his PC on his own, and regularly jailbreaks phones/tablets/etc. for himself and his friends.
Anyway, the other day in the car, he announced that he might be interested in entomology, with perhaps IT as a minor.
ENTOMOLOGY?!?
"Son," I said, after managing to not crash the car, "I'm sure bugs are interesting, but what's your plan B? What are you going to do to actually, you know, earn money so you can eat?"
So the rest of the way home, we talked about how useless his entomology degree would be, compared to IT.
And in a bit that may bring a tear to your eye, his younger sister, who had been silently taking this all in, piped up with, "So maybe being an actress isn't such a good idea?"
I gifted "Worthless" to my son on Kindle about 5 minutes after we got home, and he read it within 24 hours. Now he thinks petroleum engineering might be a good major. On his own, he's searching up websites about job salaries.
THANK YOU!
Ahhhh....warm Cappy Cap fuzzies.
That and knowing I cost the liberal art academian vampires over at Big Education another $100,000 in tuition they'll never get.

Teachers Aren't Your Friends
I will be coming out with a series against teachers exposing them for the failed humans most of them are.
In the meantime some empirical data.
