Aussie executive speaks the blunt truth about the utter craptastic quality of "graduates" colleges are graduating today.
Now all of you thin-skinned college graduates do your knee jerk thing and tell us how he's mean, how you can't put a price on education and all the other preprogrammed stuff you've been brainwashed to say.

Part of the problem is how low the pass mark is for university classes. There are different pass marks but the one I've seen most often is 50%.
Yep, you can get a degree with only half knowing your proffession. Most people don't see it but it's rather obvious why the pass mark is so low.

Indeed I hope some of them do, in writing. It would very interesting to compare the illiterate, disjointed fragments with the contributions of sixth graders from 40 years ago. I suspect that the offerings of the sixth graders from 1974 would be in every way superior.
By and large, college is a fraud and a generational scam of epic proportions. The word is out about the scam. Nationwide, college enrollment is down 500K from last year. The education industry is scrambling to find ways to defraud more students, but their current business model is a dinosaur destined to retract.
I have a degree from UCLA. It is worthless. I regret going to college. I would not recommend it to anyone.
In most education, 70% is passing. However, usually 95% is passing in the real world. in engineering, it either works to customer specification or you do not get paid. In sales, you either close the sale or you do not get paid. 100% is passing in both of these cases and there is no "partial credit" or credit for "trying".
The educational system is clearly out of tune with the real world.
Such candor would never be permitted in the mainstream American press.
Australian degrees are a joke. Some of the engineering degrees have maintained a high standard but pretty much anything else a semi literate could graduate in. It is free as well so everyone has a bullshit degree of some description.
My friend did a PhD in management or some shit and when marking papers was told to pass 90% of students so they could receive funding for next semester.
Oh, forgive me for thinking that my Bachelor's should make me highly qualified me for an entry level, $8 an hour office job.
The more I read articles like this, the more I'm reminded Cappy is just like a Baby Boomer...
"Oh, kids these days are arrogant/demanding too much/stupid/lazy/can't read" etc.
I have a bachelor's with a 3.4 gpa, a year's experience in unarmed security (it seemed brighter than retail or food service) and I'm trying to get jobs with descriptions like "entry level, must have high school diploma/ged and pays $8 an hour, maybe $10."
Instead, I'm finding out that Transformers 3 was apparently right on the money. Shia what-his-face graduates from some ivy league school, applies and interviews at a ton of places, ends up in an interview for "administrative aide" with John Malkovich, who smirks and says, "mailroom. you do that for four years, you get the administrative aide job."
If you can go to college, get a four year degree with a good gpa, and you're still not qualified for an office drone job that a 17 year old could do, what the hell is the point? I might as well find a way to claim disability, get on welfare, and become a criminal.
