Scouting Canyonland

Did some reconnaissance today to scope out a hike in Canyonland National Park.  The sad truth is that there's just way too many options:

Hike out to the confluence of the Green and Colorado Rivers.

It's about a five hour drive north of the Grand Canyon

If you have a 4x4, follow the road along the river West from Moab, it rises above the river, then switchback the cliff to Horseshoe Bend. Places yo

Also, a flightseeing tour is muchly recommended. The airport is NW of town. If hiking, don't make the same mistakes the guy did in 127 Hours. Look it up to see the dangers.
