I see the Henry Mountains in the background towards the Colorado border. The area is an unforgiving hell hole, loaded with "Industrial Tourists" laden with mountain bikes, egos and lattes. Read John Wesley Powell's opinion of the area and Stenger's "Mormon Country" for some geographical and social background. And as much as Edward Abbey is either loved or despised, his insights of the Colorado Plateau are worth digesting, particularly his thoughts toward the end of his days. Lordy, he went so far as to lament the systematic removal of the uranium miners and ranchers and the era they represented, given the "for profit" environmentalists who replaced them. When you get back to Moab, grab a copy of the "Canyon County Zephyr" and if given the chance, sit down with editor Jim Stiles over a few beers. You'll leave a wiser man.

I just clicked on a link to your site so forgive my ignorance, but where did you take these pictures? It's gorgeous!
Whoa. Did you actually drive the White Rim Trail in a car? Holy smokes, man!
Amazing scenery.

Looks like you are having a lot of fun.
I may give it a try next week.
It's still snowing here in Wyberia, and if I don't get out of the house, I'll lose my mind.
Great pics. The west has its own special kind of beauty.
Nice. White rim road? Gotta love the desert.

Canyonlands National Park in Southeastern Utah.
Whitewater rafting on the Colorado River/Green River in Canyonlands should be on your bucket list too. Absolutely stunning.
