And These People Have the Right to Vote

I'm angered that my vote is somehow canceled by theirs.

Are these people serious?

Look, I am all for saving forests, and not spoiling the environment, but seriously! Who holds a wake for a few trees?

Wonder if any of their clothes were made from fibers collected from plants?

There's only one thing to do with people like them...

...we need to figure out how to make money off of them. They're useless otherwise.

They are all dressed so nicely in their manufactured fleece and their rip-stop nylon pants and their ornamental jewelry. I wish I was in touch with nature.

People DO NOT have a right to vote.

The 15th, 19th and 26th Amendments prohibit discrimination in voting on the basis of race, sex and age respectively, but they do not affirmatively guarantee the right to vote. Voting in America is essentially a 10th Amendment issue - "states' rights."

The U.S. Supreme Court ruled in Bush v. Gore (2000) that "the individual citizen has no federal constitutional right to vote for electors for the President of the United States." In other words, Florida's state right to oversee the election took precedent over counting every individual vote - or, legally, states' rights triumphed over individual rights.

In essence the Court said, since there is no affirmative right to vote in the Constitution, what does the Florida state statute say? It said Katherine Harris (the Secretary of State; and co-chair of the Bush Campaign) is in charge of the election and, according to Florida law all the votes must be counted by midnight, December 12. Since the Court decision came down at 10 pm on December 12, she said, in essence, if you can't count all the votes in the next two hours George Bush is the President.

As a lifetime resident of North Carolina it saddens me that education dollars are wasted on clowns like these.

I guess this is why we are sadly a blue state now.

I see several others beat me to the punch on their clothing. How about the drum, the video camera, and the vehicles that got them there?

How would Obama have won the election without the modern technology they hate so much?

"Paul, it's getting cold in here. Toss another tree-hugger onto the fire. Beat it unconscious first - I can't hear the game over their screaming."

Wasted tears. Only way for them to make those trees happy would be to turn into Suicide Huggers and bury themselves there.
