Rantings and tirades of a frustrated economist.
"Leisure is for bachelors!"Amen brother Cappy Cap. Biology graduate here... Am I married? No. Am I working in a lab creating life curing diseases or improving crop yields? No. I'm doing monkey's work that a high school graduate could do, hitting 3 times a week, working on getting my mile time under 6 minutes, brewing beer and thinking about getting dancing lessons after reading your advice to young men....and I love it.
Dr. Helen links to a pretty good article that juxtaposes the employment( or lack thereof) report to the President´s speech which, of course, I didn´t waste my time to sit through in it´s entirety.http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2199815/Obamas-DNC-2012-speech-Bleak-unemployment-numbers-morning-Obama-tells-DNC-problems-solved.htmlObama:'You elected me to tell you the truth. And the truth is, it will take more than a few years for us to solve challenges that have built up over decades. It will require common effort, shared responsibility, and the kind of bold, persistent experimentation that Franklin Roosevelt pursued during the only crisis worse than this one.'...'But know this, America: Our problems can be solved. Our challenges can be met. The path we offer may be harder, but it leads to a better place. And I’m asking you to choose that future...( eyes glazing over) yada, yada, yada´How bout I just ¨enjoy the decline¨.
Over 3.5 years out of work now I have 2 jobs. That gives me 25% more hours with 67% less pay.The divorce was worth it. My 19 year old son has to fend for himself. I moved out of the state that had no jobs (east coast) and in the mountain time zone.Good luck getting blood from this stone, society.
